Von Mitte November bis Silvester verwandeln sich die schönsten Plätze Wiens in zauberhafte Weihnachtsmärkte. Die großzügig beleuchteten monumentalen Gebäude entlang des Ringes bilden eine fabelhafte Kulisse und der Duft von weihnachtlichen Backwaren und heißem Punsch schafft eine vorweihnachtliche Atmosphäre. Imbiss auf cremeförmigem Gebäck, kandierten Früchten, gerösteten Kastanien und Weihnachtsspunsch (ein gewürzter "Weihnachtspunsch" aus Wein, Brandy oder Schnaps, gesüsst mit warmen Fruchtsäften). An fast jeder Ecke der Stadt gibt es eine Fülle von Markthütten, um die größte Markierung vor dem beeindruckenden Rathaus zu durchstöbern. Erleben Sie die weihnachtliche Stimmung bei diesem 2,5-stündigen Spaziergang durch die Wiener Weihnachtsmärkte an einigen der malerischsten Plätze der Stadt.

Das Art Mart vor der spektakulär beleuchteten St. Charles-Kirche ist voll von handgefertigten Geschenken, traditionellen Speisen und einem Spielplatz für Kinder.
Der Stephansdom ist von einem Markt umgeben, der typische Wiener Dinge wie Schneekugeln bietet. Die Weihnachtsdüfte sind überall.
Kohlmarkt und Graben gehören zum Wiener Goldenen Viertel. Der berühmteste Kaffee-Service der Stadt, „Julius Meinl“, und die berühmteste Konditorei „Demel“ stechen vor allen Luxusgeschäften hervor.
Das Michaelstor ist der eindrucksvollste Zugang zur Hofburg, seit mehr als 700 Jahren das Zentrum der Macht.
Hier zeichnet sich das ikonische „Speckstandl“ aus - Würstchen, Schinken, Speck und herzhafte Bissen und alle Schätze eines Räuchers.
Der „Alte Wiener Weihnachtsmarkt“ in Freyung ist für viele der stimmungsvollste in der Stadt. Umgeben von einigen der eindrucksvollsten Familienpalais, hat der Platz immer noch den Charme eines alten Marktplatzes.
Die Ferstel Passage ist eine Art "kulinarisches Biotop" mit Schinken im römischen Stil, einem französischen mediterranen Bistro, Schokoladenchocolatiers und den Köstlichkeiten eines der besten Cafés der Stadt, dem "Café Central".
Die Tour endet auf Wiens spektakulärstem Weihnachtsmarkt, der die gesamte Umgebung ausfüllt und vor dem beleuchteten Rathaus parkt. Brigitte was such a delight when touring us around the Christmas markets in Vienna. She was very knowledgeable and we appreciated her little tidbits of history throughout the night. She was very engaging and personable. Not many tour guides care to ask for the individual names of their clients, but Brigitte made sure that was the first thing she found out when she met us! She was very patient while we were walking and we aren’t used to walking in Vienna’s winter weather, so it was nice to feel like we weren’t being rushed around. Brigitte is aware that some of Vienna’s sights and happenings are being catered to the increased tourism in the city, so she made sure to show us and bring us to places that exhibited the authenticity of Viennese way of life. Before leaving us for the night, Brigitte made sure to give us specific directions for the quickest route back to our AirBnB where she met us. Would definitely recommend for future tours!!

Travelers should know that this tour is much better and deeper than a simple Christmas Market tour. Walter is a scholarly tour guide who took us to numerous Christmas Markets, big and small; public and remote; old and newer. He shared concepts about Paris architecture, politics, culture, international influences, food, city government and infrastructure. We loved every minute and will book again next year.
