Great private tour with amazing views from the high points of the favela. Had a great guide who is a local from the favela and felt completely safe for the entire trip. Would definitely recommend.

This made the whole trip to Rio. We went on the last day and it was the highlight of our trip. We had a group of 5 and our guide, Leonardo, took us from the bottom to the top. We felt completely safe the whole time, we were able to get some of the best pictures and videos of our vacation right there. I highly recommend Leonardo, he is well respected in his community and a knowledgeable translator. (Posted on behalf of Jason’s group)

Excellent guided tour and very entertaining

We went four people on the tour with Zé and I really recommend it. Before arriving we were a little nervous because we didn't know quite what to expect and the place commands respect, but from the first moment we felt in very good hands. The tour starts with the motorcycle taxi ride to the top of the road, and that alone is an experience... You have to trust the driver because it's not something you live with every day. Zé made everything very easy and close. He was telling us super interesting things, but without it seeming like a typical explanation, rather as if you were touring the site with a friend. There was a lot of conversation, you could ask anything you wanted and it was all very natural. I think something important is that these types of tours not only teach you a different reality, but also help to change the image that many people have and, in some ways, you are also contributing. However, we believe that you have to go with respect, being aware of where you are and following the rules. We highly recommend it, as otherwise it would be very difficult to meet him like this, and Zé is an amazing person who makes the whole experience even more worthwhile.

I really liked this walk. The guide Jose was very friendly and knowledgeable. I felt extremely safe during the guided visit to Rocinha. I highly recommend the Favela Brothers, you will not regret.

We met Ze Roberto, our young guide, at the entrance to the Favela. He had arranged an Uber to get us there from our hotel. Then came the shock, as he said we had to get on the back of motor bikes to take us up into the Favela. The ride was great fun, if a bit hairy at times. Ze Roberto was excellent throughout and put my wives mind at ease. We felt safe throughout the tour. Ze Roberto lived in the Favela and was able to give us so much information about life there. Initially, we were unsure about doing the tour as "entitled" Europeans, but we are so glad we did as we learnt so much from the experience. It made you feel humble seeing the effort some people were putting into their day to day living. We had taken a few gifts for the children, which were well received.

We had a great tour of the Favela with Roberto our guide / he was so informative and as he lived in the Favela was able to give us so much information about life there. We felt very safe doing the tour and saw so much of the local community. To get to the top of the Favela we went on the back of motorbikes which was exciting but not for the faint hearted ! A great tour and would highly recommend to see a different side of Rio away from the city and beaches.

Exploring Rocinha with Favela Brothers was an unforgettable experience — safe, super informative, and so much fun. José made the whole tour engaging and authentic from start to finish. Highly recommend if you’re in Rio! 🇧🇷✨

It was completely safe. Jose was fun and knowledgeable. A great experience and inexpensive. Must do in Rio.

The trip was canceled 15 min before it was supposed to start. We were already on the way to the meeting pint. I was waiting for a contact number of the guide the whole night, kept messaging for details. Eventually the day was spiked coz this was supposed to be the plan and he said he will refund the money. Still waiting for refund but it’s fine comparing to spoiled day.
