Das kleine Dorf Tunis (‘izbat Tunis) liegt in der Oase Fayoum auf dem Weg zum Wadi Rayan. Das Dorf liegt auf einem Hügel gegenüber einem großen Salzwassersee und bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick auf den Rand der Wüste auf der anderen Seite des Sees. Es ist einer der schönsten Orte in Ägypten.
Es ist eines der reichsten und wertvollsten Naturdenkmäler Ägyptens. Der Qarun-See erhielt seinen Schutzstatus nicht nur aufgrund seiner offensichtlichen Schönheit und Bedeutung für Vögel und Menschen, sondern auch aufgrund seiner beispiellosen historischen, natürlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bedeutung.
Wadi El Rayan ist eines der berühmtesten Naturschutzgebiete Ägyptens. Das nach König El Rayan Ibn El Walid benannte Naturschutzgebiet, der mit seiner Armee in diesem Gebiet lebte, ist Teil der Provinz El Fayoum und liegt etwa 75 km von der Stadt El Fayoum entfernt.
Wadi Al-Hitan, das Waltal in der westlichen Wüste Ägyptens, enthält wertvolle Fossilien der ältesten und inzwischen ausgestorbenen Unterordnung der Wale, der Archaeoceti. Diese Fossilien repräsentieren eine der wichtigsten Geschichten der Evolution: die Entstehung des Wals als Meeressäugetier aus einem früheren Leben als Landtier. Dies ist der weltweit bedeutendste Ort zur Demonstration dieser Evolutionsstufe.
Das Fayoum, wie es genannt wird, ist die einzige künstliche Oase, die nicht durch aus dem Boden entspringendes Wasser, sondern durch einen langen Kanal entstanden ist, der auf natürliche Weise durch das Hochwasser des Nils entstanden ist und aus biblischen Zeiten stammt und Josephs Kanal genannt wird. Er erstreckt sich vom Nil bis zum großen See Birket Qarun. Es ist dieser riesige See, der an einem stürmischen Tag sehr wie das Meer aussieht, der dem Fayoum seinen besonderen Charakter verleiht. Der See war einst ein wichtiger Ort für die Entenjagd und die Hotels an seinem südlichen Ufer beherbergten Berühmtheiten wie Winston Churchill und König Farouk, die auf fliegende Vögel schossen. Obwohl es immer noch Entenjagd gibt, gibt es weitaus mehr Möglichkeiten zur Vogelbeobachtung, sowohl auf diesem See als auch im nahe gelegenen Wadi Rayyan, einer weiteren künstlich geschaffenen Wasserfläche.

This tour was incredible! The Whales Valley and Wadi El Rayan are breathtakingly beautiful. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, providing fascinating insights into the area’s history and natural wonders. The tour was well-organized, with plenty of time to explore and take photos. The transportation was comfortable, and the lunch provided was delicious. This trip is a must-do for anyone visiting Cairo. Highly recommend!

What a *hit show this was. If you book the cheaper version of this tour for 80 USD "Car+guide", the only thing you will get is a regular taxi from Cairo to the camp. The way it is written is completely untransparent and misleading. I have no clue why this option is even available since without a 4x4 car, you can't do *hit in the park. They didn't mention I would need to pay extra until the very end when they just handed me a phone, and someone was requesting another 50 USD for the drive and lunch. I would have been fine with it if it had been obvious from the beginning, but it wasn't. On top of that, we didn't even visit all the attractions, and that "Qualified Egyptologist Guide" was another driver who couldn't speak English at all. Now these clowns are asking the Viator support bot not just for that 50 USD but for 200, which I consider to be completely pathetic. Stay away from them.
We apologize for you for this misunderstanding but From the begining sit , you booked the option Car& guide . And you have got private limousine car picked you up and you have egyptologist guide in Fayoum . We contacted you at the tour morning confirming on you the booked option " Car+ guide" which means all entry fees and lunch is excluded . They are included in the All inclusive option which you hadn't booked . Secondly , Although you have booked Car& guide option , you refused to pay the entry fees & lunch at the end of thr tour and we payed for you the entry fees and lunch which costs 2300 egyptian pounds .
Highly organized and nice tour . Wadi El Rayan is a great place to visit . Guide Mido is so nice and knowledgeable. We also enjoyed having lunch there and visiting wadi El Hitan . Great service with reasonable price.
