The tour from Nice requires too much time spent in the car, and two little times seeing sites and Villages (e.g., in Moustiers Saint Marie, we only had time for lunch-did not see the Village at all). I’d recommend staying in Provence & picking up a tour from there, instead. Also, it is important to check the status of the lavender harvest before booking. In 2026, the heat caused an early bloom and harvest. Our driver had to work very hard to find one small Field with late-stage lavender, not the picturesque views we were expecting. In fact, Viator should not run this tour late in the season.
Huge gratitudes to Adam for the amazing excursion to the Verdon Gorge! His professionalism ensured we felt completely safe on the challenging mountain roads, and his engaging stories made the long journey seem effortless. Incredible turquoise water, breathtaking views, and impeccable organization—this trip for sure will be a memorable one!
Beautiful views! Our guide was a bit grumpy, and talked a lot about the politics, which I didn’t appreciate. Also we only stopped for 15 min st each little town, I would like to have more time to explore
We are airline crew and very experienced travelers obviously. The driver had little knowledge of any of the towns we visited and then was upset when our lunch was delayed. He said I should have txt him but I had told him I did not have a contact for him and he did not have a card. Instead of calling on WhatsApp he called on my direct US line🙈. And then just took us to the first lavender field there was and said this is it. Sad…it could have been a lovely day had he had a bit of knowledge and maybe a couple of recommendations for lunch. I have to say in the past Viator has been good and I have recommended it but I may take a step back.
The place was beautiful and definitely worth it!! Our guide Francois was very kind and explained all the history along the way. We recommend it!
We booked this tour mainly for the lavender fields. A little over a week before our tour date, I reached out to the company via Viator to ask whether the lavender were still available but they never replied. On the day of the tour, our guide Jack did the best he could, knowing that our main reason for booking this tour was to see the lavender fields. He went above and beyond and asked around to other tour guides to try and help us find some. I’m extremely disappointed in the company however for their lack of communication. If we had known the lavender was harvested already, we would have cancelled the tour.
We had an amazing time on this tour! The scenery looked like it came straight out of a postcard! Our guide, Alessandro, was so informative and friendly. We learned a lot about the region and got some amazing pictures. So far it’s been the highlight of our vacation! Would definitely recommend this tour.
It was a beautiful region and the tour guide, Alessandro was great. I’d recommend this tour. Getting in an out of Niece made for a long day though. The only thing negative was that Viator said that bottled water was included but the tour guide said it wasn’t included by his company. However, he did give us water out of his on stash. There’s a misunderstanding somewhere. I would recommend this tour with a small group of family or friends.
I booked a tour for my elderly mom. She waited 2 hours for them, they never picked her up nor told her they canceled her tour. When I reached out they blocked me and never answered. TERRIBLE experience, she woke up at 5 AM for this company to do this.
We had a great day with Aleksander, who took us for an epic journey through the beautiful gorge and the many vistas therein. He told us about the history of the various towns and villages along the way, while expertly navigating the narrow and sometimes heavily-trafficked road along the way. The changing landscape was fascinating from the comfort of the van we were in and the stops along the way were interesting and fun for the whole family. The deep cuts through the sedimentary rock and the many different colors thereof were beautiful to behold. By virtue of being a private tour, changes can be made easily. We opted to spend more time in the first village (beautiful!), enjoy a lovely lunch and lavender ice cream, followed by lengthy swimming and a short visit to the lavender fields rather than visiting both villages. But that’s the thing, Aleksander will customize your visit as needed so you come away super happy. We were super fortunate to spend the day with him and to enjoy all the vistas, history, and unique character of the regions we crossed.
