Do not take this camel ride

The driver arrived a bit late but ok...in the dark before sunup we were driven to an underpass. Felt sketchy. Got on the sitting camel.... The ride I envisioned would have great pyramid views. This ride was long aside the major highway. The camel guy was not concerned at all with the level of difficulty. We finally got to the destination that has to be at least a half mile from the giza pyramids. It was not a good picture. The camel guy smoked the whole time which blew back on us. The ride was too far. We got off after the photo... Because of how the camel guy had me sitting and holding the saddle. I fell off when the camel got up... From the full height of the camel. I told the guy I was going to walk but it was a long made to get back on.. He did not call the car to come get me and continued chain smoking. I was miserable bc of the long ride and sore. Luckily wasn't hurt but sore for several days. We used to have horses and ridden alot...but with a camel it's more jostle...no stirrups as and little to hold on to. The giza and spinx part was fine but on a 1 to 10 our guide was a 6. Lunch was a steer sandwich where other tours was nice sit down. I'm hindsight I should have refused to get off and remained on the camel and only gotten off at the end of the ride.

Scam

Total scam. Never turned up, I waited an hour after getting up at 4am. I read the other reviews thinking it would be fine, but it wasn’t. They refunded me though, but I’d avoid and not risk it.

Amazing first day in Cairo, highly recommend!

Arrived 2am into our hotel so arranged for this trip as it was ideal due to the time and pickup from the hotel (not able to check in yet) and also sunrise camel tour. Noor our guide was so knowledgable, friendly and accommodating to our needs. Couldn’t have asked for a better 1st experience and introduction to the wonder of Cairo. He got us a traditional Egyptian breakfast after the camel ride which was tasty, then onto a personal tour of the pyramids, spilling his wealth of knowledge on us and also stopping us from getting any hassle for camel rides, horse rides etc due to being with him. Can’t recommend this tour enough and if you get Noor you’ll be extra lucky!

HORRIBLE experience

Horrible experience not only with the tour agency but with Viator itself. The tour agency never replied to my messages about pick up time and location. I constantly messaged them. I even googled the agency to message them privately through WhatsApp and still nothing. The day came and no word from them. I messaged Viator to get our money back and they said they couldn’t because we didn’t update the pick up location. We simply couldn’t. We aren’t staying in a hotel, but renting an apartment. And Viator wouldn’t understand that. So $240 down the drain with horrible customer service. If I could give negative stars I would.

Scam and didn't show up. Timings don't work with the pyramid plataus opening times

It was a scam. The tour operator didn't show up. I got up at 4 to be ready for 04.30. Later I found out that Giza pyramid plateau does not open till 07.10 so how could I have gone camel riding? I wouldn't. Therefore scam! Viator refunded me quickly. But they couldn't get through to operator either. Was very disappointed by my start to the holiday, but I organised something myself.

Best tour ever!

Mahmoud Hafez was the best tour guide ever!!!! We got to do a camel ride at sunrise and then do a pyramid tour with him afterwards. Felt safe the entire time and he was so much fun! We got to the pyramids before anyone else - we were the FIRST ones there so no crowds at all. He took great photos of us as well. He also taught us words in arabic , took us to a traditional Egyptian breakfast (food was SO good) and took us to a couple local shops (scents/perfume and artwork). He was so funny and super informative as well. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Egypt!

The best day of the whole trip!

My boyfriend and I went to Egypt for a few days in November 2019, mainly to see the great pyramids and the Sphinx. We did this tour and don't regret a second of it. Our guide Zozo knows literally everything there is to know about Egyptology and made the whole experience even more special. You could really tell that it was much more than just a job for her and that she has a passion for the ancient history of Egypt. I'm really glad we visited these places with a professional guide and didn't just go out on it. Zozo explained everything we saw and put everything from beginning to end in a historical context, in a consistent story. I have really learned a lot and will not forget this day! In addition to the pyramids, we also visited the Egyptian Museum including the Tutankhamun artifacts. We were allowed to do a short camel tour near the pyramids, had lunch, visited a papyrus exhibition/gallery (there I also learned some new things) and spent a few hours at Khan El Khalili market. It was a packed day, never boring and I can honestly recommend it to anyone thinking about visiting Egypt!

Tour made for us

During our first visit to Egypt, on just our second day, we set off on a private tour that truly lived up to its promise with an unforgettable experience at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx, and an engaging museum tour. What really took the biscuit was the thrilling camel ride at sunrise by the pyramids—absolutely the bee's knees. Egypt's history is mind-blowing all on its own, but having a top-notch guide can turn a cracking good experience into something extraordinary. We struck lucky with Ashraf as our guide. His profound insights into Egypt's history, delivered with a personal touch, left us chuffed to bits. Ashraf also had a flair for photography, capturing some of the best moments of our trip. It's one thing to visit Egypt, but it's another kettle of fish to explore it with a guide like Ashraf, who offers reasonable pricing and a lively tour that makes history jump off the pages.

Once in a lifetime experience!

This was an amazing experience! I felt incredibly well cared for throughout the entire journey. The camels were in perfect health, and the camel driver was a delight. My guide's English was flawless, and his expertise of the Giza pyramids was truly fascinating. I especially loved learning about the building methods and am thrilled with the professional-quality photos that he captured during this unforgettable experience!

Amazing guide

The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He came with a driver and escorted us to all the interesting areas in Giza and made us feel a bit like locals walking around with him. It was great thank you.
