Auf unserer Tour durch die Heilige Kirche von Rom begleitet Sie Ihr persönlicher Chauffeur und erfahrener Theologe in einem Premium-Luxusfahrzeug zu 3 der 4 päpstlichen Basiliken sowie zur Basilika Santa Croce. Diese vier Kirchen stehen auf der "must see" -Liste, wenn Sie Rom besuchen! In der Basilika Maria Major, auch bekannt als Unsere Liebe Frau vom Schnee, befindet sich die Krippe des Jesuskindes, die größte Kirche Mariens in Rom. Anschließend sehen Sie St. John Lateran, die Kathedrale von Rom mit Sitz des Bischofs von Rom und St. Pauls außerhalb der Mauern. In der Basilika des Heiligen Kreuzes sehen Sie viele Relikte der Passion Christi, darunter Teile der Dornenkrone und das eigentliche Kreuz Jesu. Ihre erste Station ist die Basilika des Heiligen Kreuzes in Jerusalem. Ein Geschenk von Konstantin I. an seine Mutter Helen, die eine kleine Kapelle baute, in der die Reliquien des Heiligen Kreuzes untergebracht waren, die sie in Jerusalem gefunden und nach Rom transportiert hatte. Später wurde diese kleine Kapelle, ursprünglich die Basilika Eleniana, zur großen Basilika, die sie heute ist. Diese Basilika ist auch eine der Stationen auf dem Weg der „7 Kirchen“, den Pilger in der Karwoche zu Fuß machten.
Als nächstes besuchen Sie die Kathedrale von Rom und den Sitz des Papstes. Die Archbasilika von St. John Lateran ist die wichtigste und älteste Kirche der Welt! Es ist eine der 4 päpstlichen Basiliken in Rom und war bis zum 14. Jahrhundert die ursprüngliche Residenz der Päpste.
Als nächstes sehen Sie die Basilika, die angeblich von der Heiligen Jungfrau Maria selbst in Auftrag gegeben wurde! Sie erschien sowohl Papst Liberius als auch einem römischen Patrizier, Giovanni, und sagte ihnen, sie wolle zu ihren Ehren eine Kirche bauen. Am 5. August sandte die Gottesmutter einen wunderbaren Schneefall, der auf dem Esquiline-Hügel ruhte und den Grundriss der Kirche umriss! So erhielt sie ihren Namen "Lady of the Snows", und in der Basilika befindet sich jetzt die Krippe des Christkindes.
Ihre letzte Station ist St. Pauls außerhalb der Mauern. Die Grabstätte von St. Paul befand sich am Rande der alten Aurelianischen Mauer und war ursprünglich ein kleines Gedenkgebäude namens Cella Memoriae. Konstantin I. ließ jedoch eine größere Basilika auf der Cella Memoriae errichten, um den heiligen Paulus zu ehren. Es wurde mehrmals abgerissen und wieder aufgebaut, wobei viele Restaurierungen und Erweiterungen vorgenommen wurden. Es war die größte Kirche in Rom, bis St. Peter gebaut wurde.

I reach out to Europe Odsessey for multiple tours because thoroughly enjoyed them last year in Rome/ Vatican. We did holy churches without a luxury car- Michael was also very knowledgeable, professional, and kind shown us all the beautiful baroque churches while not everyone is a big fan of visiting churches, I genuinely appreciated all the effort he put into the tour experiences. All of the tours were wonderful, and I really appreciate how smoothly everything was organized. It truly felt like the best of Europe. Mirella was incredibly informative and knowledgeable about the arts in Florence. She easily brought me to places that I was curious about- Kaws exhibit, wine in the hole, and the santa maria novella perfume. And Irene in Paris was fantastic as well; she took us to some beautiful churches(Miraculous medal) also went above and beyond for an additional stop at roland garros- and shared so much insight. Rick Steves was right—I’m so glad we chose this company again for our tours! Thank you for making everything easy and enriching for my dad and my uncle. making everything so accomodating for us. Our driver was punctual at 8:30 and picked us up in a nice Mercedes. We met our guide at the first church. Justin was very knowledgeable and never rushed us. Both the driver and guide were exceptional.
