Avila ist die höchstgelegene Provinzhauptstadt Spaniens (1.131 Meter Höhe) und liegt etwa 100 km von Madrid entfernt, im Nordwesten. Die Altstadt behält den typischen Grundriss römischer Städte bei; das unbestrittene Symbol der Stadt ist jedoch die mittelalterliche Mauer. Diese offene und ummauerte Stadt gehört zum Weltkulturerbe und ihr kultureller und historischer Reichtum macht sie zu einem besonderen Ort, um ihre Straßen und Plätze zu genießen.
Nicht allzu weit von Avila, etwa 80 Km nordwestlich, kommen wir in Segovia an. Die Altstadt von Segovia und ihr Aquädukt gehören ebenfalls zum Weltkulturerbe. In der Altstadt gibt es viele historische zivile und militärische Gebäude, sowohl christlicher als auch jüdischer Bauart. Und außerhalb der Altstadt befindet sich auf einem Felsen ein reizvolles Schloss, fast ein Märchenpalast: der Alcázar. Nicht zu vergessen ist die segovianische Küche, die nicht nur in Spanien, sondern auch international sehr bekannt ist. Gerichte wie „Judiones“ (Breitbohnen), Schweinebraten und Lammbraten sind seine berühmten Spezialitäten. In Bezug auf gute Restaurants empfehlen wir Ihnen im Guide Michelin zwei Restaurants: das „Mesón de Cándido“ und das „Duque Restaurant“.

Must see historical cities in Spain and a private tour provides great flexibility. Our guide was very knowledgeable and thorough in her explanations of the sites and the history. She was flexible to accommodate our pace (my partner requires a cane for mobility) and the tour operator even agreed to drop us off near Segovia for our next adventure instead of requiring us to return to Madrid. Really great and I highly recommend this if you want to avoid the crowds of tours or need customization.

This is an absolutely fantastic tour! A 10 out of 10! Our guide was amazing! Both cities are a must see! Our guide was knowledgable about both cities and the Church of St Teresa of Avila is a must. The Roman aqueduct in Segovia is amazing and not to be missed. Truly an amazing day! Highly recommend.

A wonderful private tour to Avila and Segovia! Our driver, Pavlo, was early and waiting for us, which was so refreshing (our other tours we had to call once the guides were late) Our tour guide, Mati, was so friendly and knowledgeable and on time as well :) She was always taking our pictures of us enjoying our time. In Segovia, we ate at a wonderful restaurant right next to the aqueduct where she knew the owner. We got wonderful service and even a little gift. It was a wonderful day!!
