Ship Creek ist ein Fluss in Anchorage, Alaska, der von den Chugach Mountains in die Cook Inlet fließt.
Dieser 134 Hektar große Park liegt in den Wäldern, in denen 1964 beim stärksten Erdbeben des letzten Jahrhunderts ein ganzes Stadtviertel ins Meer rutschte. Das Erdbeben hatte eine Stärke von 9,2 auf der Richterskala und dauerte 4 Minuten. Heute wird dieses tragische Ereignis im Erdbebenpark von Anchorage gewürdigt, wo Sie Schilder finden, die die Umstände des Bebens und seine Auswirkungen auf die Gegend erklären.
Vom Aussichtspunkt in der Innenstadt hat man einen Blick auf die Skyline von Anchorage und bei klarem Wetter auch auf Denali und die Alaskakette.
Lake Hood Seaplane Base ist ein staatlicher Wasserflugzeugstützpunkt, der 3 Meilen südwestlich des zentralen Geschäftsviertels von Anchorage liegt. Lake Hood ist durchgehend in Betrieb und für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Es ist der geschäftigste Wasserflugzeugstützpunkt der Welt und wickelt durchschnittlich 190 Flüge pro Tag ab. Er liegt an den Lakes Hood und Spenard neben dem Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, drei Meilen von der Innenstadt von Anchorage entfernt.
Beluga Point Site ist eine archäologische Stätte am Turnagain Arm des Cook Inlet. Sie wurde am 30. März 1978 in das National Register of Historic Places aufgenommen. Artefakte aus der Gegend zeugen von früher menschlicher Besiedlung. Die Artefakte von Beluga Point North 1 (BPN1) sind 8.000–10.000 Jahre alt und gelten als Beweis für die älteste Besiedlung in der Gemeinde Anchorage. Beluga Point ist auch ein Gebiet zur Tierbeobachtung. Von Juli bis August können saisonal Weißwale gesichtet werden, da Hunderte von Walen den Cook Inlet besuchen, um sich von den pazifischen Lachsen zu ernähren.
Potter Marsh am südlichen Ende des Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge ist ein idealer Ort, um von Anchorage aus eine Pause einzulegen für Vogel- und andere Tierbeobachter. Vom Seward Highway aus, kurz vor der Linkskurve zum Potter Marsh-Parkplatz, bietet sich Ihnen eine atemberaubende Aussicht auf Turnagain Arm. Ein hölzerner Steg schlängelt sich 1.550 Fuß vom Parkplatz durch das Marschgebiet und über Wasseröffnungen und Seggen, ein perfekter Lebensraum für eine reiche Vogelvielfalt. Von Ende April bis September nutzen Kanadagänse, Spießenten, Bergenten, Odinshühnchen, Ohrentaucher und Rothalstaucher sowie Kornweihen dieses Feuchtgebiet. Suchen Sie mit einem Fernglas oder einem Spektiv nach Adlernestern in den Pappeln in der Nähe des Fußes der Klippe.
Der Ausgangspunkt des Glen Alps-Wanderwegs im Chugach State Park bietet eine spektakuläre Aussicht über die Anchorage Bowl und hinauf in die alpinen Regionen.

Everything about this was wonderful! John was very knowledgeable if so many aspects of Alaska. Having never been before, was able to learn about the Earthquakes, the private airplanes, the mountains, it was awesome. He was able to personalize the trip to what I was interested in seeing.

Great tour! All 9 members of our group (from young adults to seniors) enjoyed the tour with guide Tim. He was very informative and answered all our questions. Tim texted before our tour to confirm the time/location and showed up on time. Would highly recommend this tour for a short, informative tour of Anchorage. Waste of money and time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, but the tour was nothing to write home about. Don’t waste your time and money and maybe just rent a car and drive around instead.

My group of 12 had an evening departure from Anchorage and we were looking for something to do to pass the time so I booked a private tour with GREATLAND ADVENTURES. Fantastic Tour of Anchorage - our tour guide, Matt, was excellent! He catered to our group - answered all of our silly questions.
