We had a great day with Simon and spent the day eating and drinking around some fantastic neighbourhoods in Tokyo where we saw not a single tourist. It felt like visiting the city with a friend who knows takes you to all the cool places. Simon was really friendly and easy going and we immediately felt comfortable with him. We rolled home at the end of the day absolutely FULL of good food, drinks and great conversation. Thank you!
Great tour! Lots and lots of food which was great, all included in the tour price. Simon our guide was fluent in Japanese but also English so it made for an enjoyable 6 hour tour. We went to lots of different styles of restaurants and food places and loved it all!
Thanks guys! Really happy you enjoyed the tour!
What a wonderful tour this was. We had Simon who took us around so we could taste so many different foods. All those pictures you see on Instagram of food - well Simon knows where the real and authentic versions of those are where the quality is better, you don’t have to wait in lines and it’s more true Japan in suburbs you won’t normally visit. We ate so much food that by the last one, we were so full that we could hardly move. It was one of our favourite tours as we got to see areas of Tokyo we wouldn’t have otherwise ventured to. If you want to try good food or even see all the foods you see picture and videos of on social media without the fuss and lines and with good quality foods locals would eat, then don’t hesitate to book this trip.
Thank you so much for the kind words Dinusha. I really enjoyed taking you and your family out. I am glad you enjoyed the food and drink!
Great "off the tourist track" food tour! Simon was an excellent host. We hit a lot of very diverse food experiences in the time. Exactly what I was looking for. Definitely recommend it to every foodie out there who is looking for something a bit more authentic with more locals than tourists when you looked around.
Our tour with Simon was by far the highlight of our whole trip to Tokyo. We spent 6 hours with him and got a far better feel for the real Tokyo--its food, its secrets, its culture, its politics, and what it's like to really live here--than if we had tried to wander around on our own. Simon leverages his decades of experience living, eating, and, oh yeah, drinking, in the city. No topic is off limits. No personal preference is unheeded. We have been on foodie tours where the stops and menus are set and limited. This is not that--Simon tailors your private tour continuously...even for our pescatarianism and my beer antipathy...no small feat, but Simon was up for the challenge. He absolutely made our whole trip.
Thank you so much. It was a great day and I really enjoyed showing you around a different side of the city. Really happy you enjoyed the day.
I've been to Tokyo numerous times. On this trip I wanted to find some new spots, so I decided to book a nighttime walking tour. Simon delivered. We went to interesting, history laden, hidden spots with some of the best food I've had in all of Tokyo! On top of it, Simon (the guide) was an absolute gem to be around. We laughed, we learned, we laughed some more, and then when it was late into the night and time for us to go, we cried. Such an incredible experience. tl;dr - Go on this tour. You will thank me later.
Simon was great about communicating exactly where we would meet to begin our tour. We started in station underground food courts and it was a great way to get oriented to Japanese food and gift giving culture around food. We then moved on to several neighborhoods where we enjoyed delicious local street food and drink! We topped of our day having a lovely sit down dinner and Simon made sure I was able to find my way back to my hotel using Tokyo subways. I found Simon easy to be with and fun to talk to. We have some things in common and it was reassuring and comforting to be able to feel at ease during our time together as I booked the tour as a solo traveler. Simon took great care to explain details about the food and culture and how these are so uniquely intertwined in Japan and the specific neighborhoods we visited in tokyo. I was able to try things I otherwise would not have experienced not had the capacity to access. I really had a great time!
Simon was amazing!! He not only answered all our questions about culture of food in Japan but he was extremely knowledgeable about the history and social culture of the country. Showing us an array of different types of food from street food to sit down restaurant letting us eat our way through 6 hours of the tour. This tour is a must for everyone. Simon was super friendly and was able to cater to our food preferences and amend the schedule if a line was to long or a vebdor sold out. If you plan a trip to Tokyo this tour is a MUST forever one that plans to eat!!!! Thank you again Simon for amazing time.
Simon was our guide. He provided a comfortable atmosphere which my girlfriend and I could enjoy food in tokyo. Whatever we wanted to try he was able to get. Simon was friendly and very personable. He answered all of our questions and helped us get a better food experience than we could have on our own. Highly recommended, knowledgeable and a must do if you haven't done it before.
