Great experience. Family of 3, including a 10 year old. We were picked up from our hotel in San Ignacio by an English speaking driver who assisted us with border paperwork. Then we were assisted by a Guatemalan driver who was not English speaking but with the help of a translator we were able to communicate. After the two hour drive to Tikal village we met our English speaking local guide who was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and happy guide. The lunch arranged at the restaurant was excellent as well. All in all a 11/10. Tikal is a must see.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that your family had such a great experience visiting Tikal. We’re especially happy that the entire journey—from your pickup in San Ignacio, assistance at the border, and coordination between our drivers, to your time with our local guide—went smoothly. It means a lot to know that despite the language difference with the Guatemalan driver, communication was still effective and comfortable throughout your trip. Your kind words about your guide truly mean a lot—our team takes great pride in sharing the history and magic of Tikal in an engaging and memorable way, especially for families traveling with kids! We’re also glad you enjoyed the lunch and overall experience. Thank you again for choosing us and for recommending Tikal as a must-see, we couldn’t agree more!
It was an adventure just getting across the border. But the process was simple and quick. Once we got to Tikal, our guide Noel was wonderful. We got the whole experience. I suggest learning a bit of Spanish to talk with the driver on the Guatemala side. It is definitely worth it to learn more about the country and Tikal itself.
Thank you so much for your kind review, Amani! We’re happy to hear that your journey across the border went smoothly and that the adventure was all part of the experience. It’s great to know that Noel made your time at Tikal so enjoyable—he’ll be delighted to hear your kind words! We also appreciate your helpful tip about Spanish—it can definitely enhance the experience when interacting along the way. We’re so glad you found the tour worthwhile and enriching. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back for another amazing adventure soon!
Luis our guide was fabulous! Loved his vast knowledge of Tikal & Mayan history and use of plants. HIGHLY recommend the experience!
The trip was seamless - pick up to border crossing to Tikal tour back across the border and return to our hotel. Tikal was absolutely amazing. Cayo Tours is highly recommended.
Uff duh. Be prepared for a very physical experience. 5.5 miles in all walked. Bring plenty of water and Gatorade to replenish all you will sweat off. It was 100⁰. The tour guide, Ruiz was amazing! Filled with intricate knowledge of the ruins and the Mayan culture.
Great guide in Tikal; pace was fast and not really "tailored" but we did see nearly everything that's been partially uncovered/restored. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Belize side driver was nice, but delayed 35 mins picking us up from the border upon our return. Not a big deal, but would have appreciated some communication on that front! Driver on Guatemala side was friendly and safe - just only spoke Spanish. We speak some, so got about 75% of the site descriptions and info on the drive to and from. Lunch was good (not in the park), but honestly so late in the day I could have skipped. They provided bottled cold water in addition to our water bottles we brought along. Bring some snacks as it's 2:30 or 3pm for lunch. I didn't realize we'd have three different people driving/guiding for the day, so plan your tips accordingly. Fun day. Glad we went. Tikal is amazing!
Our tour guide Willy was friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He made sure our day trip to Guatemala and Tikal was a success in every way. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend Viator and Cayo Inland Expeditions.
Our family group of late 20's couples and parents (50's) did two tours with Cayo Inland (Tikal Private tour and Jaguar Paw Cave Tubing), as well as utilizing their shuttle service from the Belize city airport to San Ignacio and back to the airport once we were done in San Ignacio. Everything was absolutely incredible. Every little detail was taken care of perfectly and the guides were incredibly knowledgeable and professional throughout. Terry was great with setting everything up and communicating everything to us clearly so that our entire stay in San Ignacio went smoothly. We also stayed at their rental home in San Ignacio which worked very well for 3 adult couples. If you are looking for a great place to stay while in San Ignacio, it has everything you need and is in a great, private, quiet location with an awesome view and pool! She even helped us get into town for dinner one evening and obtained a rum cake to celebrate a birthday for one of our party. It was amazing. For the tours themselves, we did Tikal one day, and the Jaguar Paw cave tubing the following day, and both were incredible. The guides were excellent, both friendly, as well as incredibly knowledgeable and it was easy to tell they enjoyed what they did. Our guide for most of the trips was O'NiI (O'Neal). We couldn't have asked for a more friendly, down to earth person who was full of so much information. By the time we left San Ignacio he felt like family (No Kidding!) We gave each other hugs until the next time. I can't recommend Cayo Inland enough, it really was a great experience in San Ignacio. Five starts for sure!
This was our favorite tour of our family vacation. It was very easy to get through customs and immigration. We had a private van, and our own private tour guide the entire day. Our guide was amazing. She had lots of knowledge & answered every question we had. This is the best way to experience Tikal.
Reuben was helpful and great in helping us discover this tour. We visited his office in Central Ignacio (at the intersection of Burns Ave and Bullet Tree Road). He even offered to come to the office on his day off to process our payment for the trip. Transportation from San Ignacio to Tikal couldn't have gone more smoothly. We were left astonished by the sight of the ruins at Tikal. Our tour guide's knowledge of the site made a great trip perfect. We were on the fence originally on doing this tour due to time constraint of our stay and worry of the travel distance and border crossing, however this turned out to be the highlight of our trip so would highly recommend!
