Amas Surfschule Weligama Sri Lanka wurde ursprünglich gegründet, um all jenen Surfern zu helfen, die das Gefühl hatten, ein Plateau erreicht zu haben oder um Fortschritte zu kämpfen. Der Enthusiast, der es liebt, im Meer zu sein, aber nicht herausfinden kann, wie er sein Surfen auf die nächste Stufe bringen kann. Während für manche das Brechen gebrochener Wellen im Wildwasser zu ihnen passt, ist dies für die meisten nur der Beginn einer längeren Surfreise, die vom Traum angetrieben wird, über das offene Gesicht von Wellen zu gleiten, die sich im Einklang mit dem Ozean trimmen und drehen.

On our trip to Sri Lanka in April 2026 I wanted to try Surfing but didn’t have much time to join their 3-7 day training course. When I told AMA surfing about my time constraints they offered me a 75 min beginners session at a very reasonable rate and I really enjoyed surfing . The instructors Ashi,Naveen and Achi guided me really well with warm ups and safety drills.After 30 minutes of training (warm ups + safety drills + standing up on the board) we went to the sea where the waves were beginner friendly! For nearly 45 minutes I was inside the sea with the instructor trying my luck at surfing! The instructor was also very friendly and motivated me to keep trying! With his guidance and support I could manage to stand and balance on the wave board for few minutes (and multiple times) which I can proudly say! For those who don’t know surfing this is the best way to try your luck in a short span of time! Totally recommend AMA school!
Very good surf initiation with theoretical short time heating and accompaniment in the water. Perfectly suitable for children. Super instructor with Vidu Chama and Passi
Went to book a private surf lesson, explained I was nervous of the sea, which they laughed at. I started to get dressed but ended up leaving as I was subsequently ignored and the vibes just felt off. When they asked why I was leaving I explained again that I was nervous which led to the instructor laughing again and heading over to the rest to laugh some more. I am so disappointed that this was the first surf school I tried as left me feeling super deflated. I walked on down the beach and found somewhere more welcoming. Wouldn't recommend this school, especially if you would like a patient instructor.

I had a great class at AMA. Teachers explained all the technique very well and then my instructor Chris helped me switch quickly to hard board. Will totally come back here
Had a great surfing lesson today. Good explanation and lots of one on one guidance had beautiful waves with our surf teacher Denu. Also for children super nice!!

The boys are very nice, and for $20 they offer you a 75min class practically individual (1 teacher for 2 people). They teach you for 10 minutes the basic technique and the rest of the hour you will be in the water with them next door. Highly recommended, even being a beginner (we are)
Our 10 year old boy took lessons for 2 days and Sippu was his instructor. Very patient and great at teaching. He gauged our son’s experience and increased skill as our son did. Our son loved it and we felt very comfortable with him surfing under Sippu’s instruction. Thank you!
