Wir glauben, dass die wahre Essenz von Sintra in einem perfekten Trio liegt: Denkmäler, Berge und Küste. Diese Tour führt Sie durch eine malerische Reise voller Geschichte, Legenden und atemberaubender Landschaften. Unser Abenteuer beginnt mit einer Fahrt die üppigen Bergstraßen hinauf zum ikonischen Pena Palace. Wir halten an besonderen Aussichtspunkten, wo Sie atemberaubende Ausblicke auf die Denkmäler sehen. Wenn Sie möchten, können Sie auch das Innere des Palastes und seinen umliegenden Park besuchen. Dieser Teil der Tour ist optional und selbst geführt. Sie wurde im 8. und 9. Jahrhundert von den Mauren erbaut und war ein wichtiger strategischer Punkt während der Reconquista. Das Chalet Biester wurde im mittel- und nordeuropäischen Architekturstil in Sintra erbaut, der im Portugal des späten 19. Jahrhunderts als anachronistisches Paradigma einer Sommerresidenz sehr in Mode war. Es ist ein vielseitiges Projekt. Sintra verfügt über eine der bekanntesten und symbolträchtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten, die nicht nur in der Stadt, sondern in ganz Portugal ein Muss ist. Dieser auf den Sintra-Hügeln gelegene Ort nimmt einen besonderen Platz in der königlichen Geschichte Portugals ein und symbolisiert den Höhepunkt der Monarchie im Land. Eingebettet in einen weitläufigen, 85 Hektar großen Naturpark wurde dieser prächtige und üppige Palast von der UNESCO als Weltkulturerbe anerkannt und gefeiert. Wir halten an einem Aussichtspunkt, von dem aus Sie den Pena-Palast sehen können. Der Eintritt in den Park oder Palast ist optional. Der Besuch beinhaltet nicht den Führer im Inneren des Palastes. Der Reiseleiter begleitet Sie zum Eingang und erwartet Sie, während Sie den Palast besichtigen.
Sobald wir in die reiche Geschichte und die beeindruckenden Monumente eingetaucht sind, ist es Zeit, uns weiter in die Umarmung des Berges zu wagen. Lassen Sie sich von seiner unvergleichlichen Schönheit verzaubern, während wir das gesamte Spektrum durchqueren, unterbrochen von einigen sorgfältig ausgewählten Stopps, um die Panoramablicke zu genießen.
Während wir die Bergkette erkunden, machen wir einen kurzen Stopp, um die Aussicht auf die Bucht von Cascais und den Atlantik mit den herrlichen Stränden in der Ferne zu genießen.
Wir setzen unsere Reise westwärts über die Bergkette fort und erreichen Cabo da Roca, das einst „das Ende der Welt“ genannt wurde und der westlichste Punkt Kontinentaleuropas ist. Aber unser Abenteuer ist damit noch nicht zu Ende. Wir haben noch eine letzte Überraschung parat – einen Besuch im malerischen Dorf Azenhas do Mar. Dieses typisch portugiesische Dorf liegt auf einer Klippe und vermittelt uns „Vibes“ von Santorini in Griechenland. Auf dem Rückweg nach Sintra nehmen wir eine andere Route, die uns ein atemberaubendes Panorama des gesamten Sintra-Gebirges bietet, das wir gerade durchquert haben. Wenn es Zeit ist, Abschied zu nehmen, haben Sie die Möglichkeit, sich entweder im historischen Zentrum von Sintra oder am Bahnhof absetzen zu lassen.

If you’re looking for more than just a tour of Sintra, I cannot recommend this experience highly enough it far exceeded my expectation From the moment we met, I felt completely at ease. Chico was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about Sintra. Rather than feeling like a tourist being shown the sights, I felt as though I was spending the day with a friend in his hometown, seeing Sintra through his eyes. Every story, every hidden corner, and every recommendation reflected his love for this beautiful place. If you want an authentic, personal, and memorable experience of Sintra, don’t hesitate to book a tour with Chico. You won’t just leave with wonderful memories, you’ll leave feeling as though you’ve made a new friend.
I visited Sintra this summer with my family. I am typically a more shy person; I tend to stay away from crowds, opt for quieter streets, avoid big cities. Coming to Sintra I had heard of how busy the attractions could be and was worried I might be overwhelmed. My family reached out to Mr. Local Tours to ask them if they could help us plan a tour that avoided the crowds and moved at a slower pace. Diogo was super helpful, and got a plan ready that he sent over for us to review. It took a faster paced one-day tour and broke it down into a slower paced two-day grand tour of the backroads and beauty villages of Sintra. And it was amazing! We saw all the monuments without getting herded like cows in a queue, and managed to truly get a local feel for the area, as Diogo took us to some of his favorite spots. Diogo was so helpful and informative, and really made me feel at home. And he picked us up for the tours in this really cool electric neon blue Citroen suv. I keep trying to write a longer review and getting pulled away because I’m writing so much. So the bottom line is this: Mr. Local Tours did an amazing job. I would 100% recommend them to anyone coming to Sintra. Diogo was informative, intelligent, well-spoken, and really nice. He was a pleasure to meet and the information he gave us was tailored to our interests and presented well. He made sure our tours were well-thought out for our kids with breaks and time for playground and naps, while still being fun and enjoyable for the adults. And he made sure we really got a truly local experience while still being comfortable. We came to the area knowing nothing of Sintra and we left with it feeling like another home. Our tour guide Diogo was gracious, and went the extra mile to be sure that our experience was memorable and fun-filled. His responsive texts in advance to arrange transport in a comfortable minivan instead of vintage car, greatly accomodated my tall husband and assured his comfort due to problems walking. This openness to assist us right from the start was very much appreciated and the tour itself was personal and amazing! Diogo was considerate and helpful throughout and we learned so much about the region through his colorful stories and folklore. The narrative was outstanding, complete with historical pictures to give depth and understanding of the rich culture. We laughed, took plenty of pictures, learned a lot and ended with a small keepsake gift of our adventure... a beautiful and generous added touch! I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. From the initial booking through to the tour itself, the communication was excellent throughout. Our guide, Francisco, was outstanding. His knowledge of the places we visited and their history was truly impressive. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience, always mindful of our comfort and preferences. Travelling between the sights by jeep added a unique element to the tour, and several of the locations we visited are places we would never have discovered on our own. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, made all the more memorable by Francisco’s exceptional guidance.

Loads of fun with our guide Diogo today. Showed us really nice local spots on the coast, then brought us to see sights of the palaces in the mountains. Tons of great stories and interesting facts about the areas from a local. Would recommend 10/10.

Our tour with Diogo was a true highlight of our two weeks in Portugal! Diogo is a Sintra native who knows all of the best places, including secret spots with amazing views! He is very engaging, accommodating of special requests and truly gets to know his guests. It was a huge advantage having a local who grew up and still lives in Sintra show us around the area and share stories, antidotes, and recommendations throughout the day. We enjoyed all of the history and interesting information that Diogo shared with us while he drove us in a super cool vintage convertible all around the mountain and over to the coast.
