Die Statue „Schlafender Buddha“ befindet sich auf der Rückseite des Dharma Shanti Tempels. Diese Statue wurde von Dedi Purnomo, einem Künstler aus Banyuwangi, entworfen. Die Statue, deren Bau vier Monate dauerte, ist heute ein alternativer religiöser Tourismusstandort in Bintan.
Die Bintan-Wüste ist auch als Busung-Wüste bekannt. Diese Wüste hat weißen Sand, der glitzert, wenn er der Reflexion der Sonne ausgesetzt ist, sehr ähnlich der hügeligen Wüste in Ländern des Nahen Ostens.
Der nächste interessante Touristenort auf Bintan Island ist Blue Lake. Bevor er zu einer beliebten Touristenattraktion wurde, war Blue Lake eigentlich ein Sandabbauort auf Bintan Island. Aufgrund des Bergbaus bildete dieser Ort jedoch langsam einen See mit sehr klarem Wasser.
Eine der Kultstätten, die ein touristisches Ziel ist, ist der Ksitigrabha Bodhisattva Tempel, auch bekannt als Tausend Gesichter Statue Tempel.

Very nice tour with helpful driver who took us around places in Bintan with flexibility to accommodate family needs, knowledge about good photo spots and services at the different places. Bintan is more than just the beach resorts.

Didi was a warm and knowledgeable tour guide who made every effort to make sure I was comfortable. Whilst he was apologetic about his English ability, he was easy to understand. He is accomodating in taking photos and spending longer at some spots and shorter at others according to preference. Car was clean, cool and he was a safe driver. The agency should have ordered, it rained a lot and it was a holiday (which I didn’t know), so shopping excluded and the beach too. So all outdoor activities bof. The guide dropped us off at a mall where everything was closed, no interest. He put on the air conditioner and we got very cold.:( The guide was kind but didn’t know much about what we were visiting so a shame. The agency should have offered to postpone. Too bad. What is worth a look is just the 500 statues. You don't have to. So disappointed.

I was met at the ferry terminal when I arrived and we drove to the furthest spot first and worked our way back. We visited 3 temples, the blue lake, stopped for lunch at a restaurant nearby followed by a coffee stop. I was given the option for extras too, so we went to the mangroves where I was able to pay for a last minute tour. Overall a very good experience - would definitely recommend. Well worth the money!
This was a great experience. I was traveling solo. My guide Dedi (hope I wrote it right) answered every question I could think of about Indonesia. I learned quite a bit. His English was fine. I could understand everything he was saying. The vast majority of people on Bintan can’t speak English at all, or have very limited skills, so it was nice to have a local to talk to. I’m happy I chose this activity and was able to see the real island outside of the resort areas. The temples and the lake are beautiful. I had a great seafood lunch at a quality establishment. Dedi took great photos, many of which I will treasure. The tour is worth every penny and is a great value. Make sure to bring the local currency like I did. All the transactions (souvenirs, lunch, optional experiences at the lake) are easy when you do. I highly recommend this tour!
Take local currency for the market and lake . No contactless or Singapore dollars taken. Also an umbrella!!
They had a private driver just for me to drive around Bintan Island. He was there waiting for me in the ferry station in Bintan and was very friendly, polite and professional. Bintan has several interesting places to visit like buddha temples, the sand dunes and blue lagoon, beautiful beaches.
Our guide was extremely professional and helped us through a lot of local retail transactions that otherwise may have been challenging.
