Die unterirdische Stadt Derinkuyu verfügt über alle üblichen Annehmlichkeiten, die man in anderen unterirdischen Komplexen in ganz Kappadokien findet, wie zum Beispiel Wein- und Ölpressen. Das Ihlara-Tal, eine lange Schlucht, die im südlichen Teil Kappadokiens nach mehreren Ausbrüchen des Berges Erciyes in Vulkangestein gehauen wurde.
