Der Mercado del Puerto, lecker!! Dies ist ein großer Markt aus dem 19. Jahrhundert voller geschäftiger Restobars, die auf Fleisch spezialisiert sind. Dieser Ort ist optional, wenn Reisende an einer klassischen uruguayischen Parrillada (Barbecue) interessiert sind.
Der Zabala-Platz, benannt nach dem Gründer von Montevideo, verfügt über Gärten des französischen Landschaftsarchitekten Édouard André. Die Gärten sind von Eisenzäunen und Toren umgeben. Der Platz ist von der Ring Durango Straße umgeben, benannt nach dem Stadtteil, in dem Zabala geboren wurde. Auf der Südseite des Platzes befindet sich der Taranco-Palast, in dem sich das Museum der dekorativen Künste befindet.
Wir können diesen Teil zu Fuß erkunden. Die Plaza de la Constitución, auch Plaza Matriz (Kathedrale) genannt, befindet sich in Montevideo, Uruguay, im Herzen des historischen Altstadtviertels. Ursprünglich diente es als Plaza Mayor der Festungsstadt San Felipe und Santiago de Montevideo und war der einzige offene öffentliche Raum, der speziell für diesen Zweck entworfen wurde.
Plaza Independencia ist der wichtigste Platz in Montevideo, Uruguay. Es befindet sich im Stadtzentrum und nimmt den Raum ein, der einst von der Zitadelle von Montevideo gehalten wurde. Im Zentrum steht das Denkmal und Mausoleum von General José Gervasio Artigas. Rund um den Platz befinden sich mehrere historische Gebäude, darunter der ikonische Palacio Salvo, ein beeindruckendes Beispiel für eklektische Architektur und eines der höchsten Gebäude Südamerikas, als es 1928 fertiggestellt wurde. Die Rambla de Montevideo ist eine 24 Kilometer lange Allee, die an die Küste des Río de la Plata in Montevideo, der Hauptstadt Uruguays, grenzt.

Prado ist ein ruhiges und exklusives Wohnviertel, das für den gleichnamigen weitläufigen Park bekannt ist, in dem Besucher zwischen einheimischen und exotischen Pflanzen im Botanischen Garten und Rosen, die um Steinbögen in El Rosedal gepflanzt sind, spazieren gehen. Weitere Gärten gibt es im Blanes-Museum, einem Chalet aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, das heute ein Museum für uruguayische Kunst ist. Las Carmelitas ist eine viel fotografierte Kirche aus den 1920er Jahren mit japanischem Garten.

Had an incredible tour with Favio, who brought Montevideo to life in the most engaging way. This was a brilliant guided tour with Paola and driver Alviro. Message on the morning about where to meet, several stops where we got out and walked around with useful information about the area. She coped well with my husband’s wish for shopping and could help with questions to the stall holders. We got to see annual ceremony changing guard. Views from top of City Hall were incredible. Got to see so many ch of old and new part. Ate at indoor market and tried local food which we would not have done by ourselves Highly recommend this tour

We had a perfect day in Montevideo with a local. This tour is a highlight of our trip and honestly one of the best we have ever had! Fabio is very knowledgeable about history and sights but more impressive is his ability to share the warmth of the people.
