Curzon Hall ist ein markantes Backsteindenkmal aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert in Shahbagh, auf dem Campus der University of Dhaka. Ursprünglich als Rathaus in Auftrag gegeben, wurde der Grundstein 1904 von Lord Curzon gelegt und das Gebäude 1908 fertiggestellt. Seit 1921 beherbergt der Saal die Fakultät für Wissenschaften. Seine indo-sarazenische Architektur zeigt eine anmutige Verschmelzung von Mogul- und europäischen Stilen – mit Kuppeln, Hufeisen- und Spitzbögen, verzierten Türmchen, tiefen Traufen und charmanten Veranden. Über ihre akademische Rolle hinaus spielte die Curzon Hall eine zentrale Rolle in der Geschichte Bangladeschs: Sie war ein Zentrum des Protests während der Bengalischen Sprachbewegung (1948–56), wo Studenten Versuche verurteilten, Urdu als einzige Staatssprache durchzusetzen. Umgeben von grünen Rasenflächen, einem botanischen Garten, Spielfeldern und einem historischen Teich bietet die Curzon Hall eine ruhige und malerische Umgebung inmitten des geschäftigen Campus.
Shaheed Minar (Märtyrerdenkmal) in Dhaka ist ein mächtiges nationales Symbol zu Ehren derjenigen, die während der Bengalischen Sprachbewegung im Februar 1952 ihr Leben verloren. An jenen Tagen wurden Studenten und Aktivisten der Dhaka University und des Dhaka Medical College erschossen, als sie friedlich forderten, Bengalisch als Staatssprache anzuerkennen. Das heutige, etwa 14 Meter hohe Denkmal zeigt halbkreisförmig angeordnete, aufragende Marmorsäulen, die eine trauernde Mutter mit ihren gefallenen Kindern symbolisieren, mit einer markanten roten Sonnenscheibe dahinter. Weiße Treppen und Geländer verleihen ihm ein feierliches, fast göttliches Aussehen, während eingeschriebene Gedichtzeilen aus Eisenbuchstaben die Zäune schmücken. Im Inneren erzählen Marmorböden und eine große Wandverkleidung im Untergeschoss die Geschichte der Bewegung.
Lalbagh Fort ist ein unvollendeter Mogul-Festungskomplex aus dem 17. Jahrhundert, der vor dem Buriganga-Fluss im südwestlichen Teil von Dhaka, Bangladesch, steht. Der Bau wurde 1678 n. The guide provided me with a great introduction to Dhaka and it's history and origins with his vast knowledge of the city. He took me to several important sites in Old Dhaka explaining the significance of each in some detail. He was happy to answer any questions I had about Dhaka. Also he was interested in where I came from and why I had chosen to visit Bangladesh. A worthwhile tour which I am happy to recommend.

We really only visited two of the sights; the other ones we saw only from the outside and after it got dark. I think it's probably impossible to do this tour in half a day and the guide, although well intentioned, couldn't manage the time adequately in a city with Dhaka's traffic.

I booked the tour last minutes, however, everything was organized and planned well, on time pick up，my guide Shahadat is accommodating and explain the places well. I’ve learned the history of Bangladesh along this tour, would recommend if you have one day to spare in Dhaka.

Our tour was initially postponed by one hour and suddenly canceled 15 minutes before the start. We checked with our hotel concierge, and some places on the list were closed and shouldn’t be even proposed. This was a huge disappointment.

Visited lots of places in Old Dhaka. Such an amazing place with narrow streets and authentic buildings. Fantastic driver and guide who did everything to show the highlights of the Bangladeshi capital. I recommend this tour. Easy commucation, punctual pick up and great stops.
