Reiseverlauf
Nach etwa anderthalb Stunden Fahrt (Zeiten hängen von der Lage Ihres Hotels ab). In dieser ersten Phase werde ich mit Ihnen über die Abfolge der Ereignisse sprechen, die 1940 zur Besetzung Frankreichs durch die Nazis führten. Anschließend werden wir über die Planungs- und Vorbereitungsmaßnahmen für die Landung am 6. Juni 1944 sprechen und schließlich die Heldentaten besprechen der 225 Männer des zweiten Ranger-Bataillons von Colonel Rudder.
Wir werden im Herzen von Omaha Beach in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer anhalten, wo Sie ein paar Fotos machen können und ich Ihnen einige Restaurants vorschlagen werde, damit Sie schnell zu Mittag essen können, bevor Sie zu unserem nächsten Stopp aufbrechen.
Der amerikanische Friedhof von Colleville-sur-Mer ist der meistbesuchte Ort an den Landungsstränden. Wenn Sie möchten, werden wir anhalten, um einen Kurzfilm zu sehen, der einigen Soldaten gewidmet ist, die während der Schlacht um die Normandie im Kampf gefallen sind. An diesem Standort wird es auch möglich sein, ein kleines Gedenkmuseum zu besichtigen. Anschließend werden wir respektvoll zwischen den 9387 Gräbern der Helden wandeln, die für die Befreiung Europas ihr Leben ließen.
In Longues-sur-Mer können wir anhalten, um die Kasmaten zu besichtigen, in denen sich noch immer die 155-mm-Kanonen befinden, die Teil des berühmten Atlantikwalls sind, der 1942 von den Nazis in Europa errichtet wurde.
Wir werden in Arromanches les Bains anhalten, um die Überreste des künstlichen Hafens zu besichtigen, der in den ersten Tagen des Angriffs von den Alliierten errichtet wurde. Hier erkläre ich Ihnen noch einmal die Planung und Errichtung dieses gigantischen Geländes, das für die Versorgung der alliierten Armee notwendig ist.
Wenn Sie möchten, kehren wir entlang der Landungsstrände zum östlichen Angriffsabschnitt zu Ihrem Hotel zurück und können so die Benouville-Brücke überqueren, die zu Ehren eines Kommandos der sechsten britischen Luftlandedivision, die die Brücke heldenhaft erobert hat, in Pegasus-Brücke umbenannt wurde in der Nacht vom 5. auf den 6. Juni 1944. Anschließend fahren wir zurück zu Ihrem Hotel.

We had an amazing tour with Quentin. He arrived on time and we went from there! He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He toured us around and gave us ample time to explore. His video helped set the tone for the whole day. It was truly a moving experience that I will forever remember.

Gilles is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide, that we highly recommend for tours of the Le Havre and Normandy area. His knowledge of the World Wars is outstanding, and he shared information in a very easily understood way. Our party of six was unanimous in our appreciation for a tour well done. His English was excellent, his car was first class, and he was onetime and delivered the tour just as promised. We've enjoyed several excellent private tours but this tour was by far one of the best.

Gilles and his team were absolutely amazing!!!! We had 8 people total and two very comfortable, clean, well stocked cars (food and beverages), that made our trip from the cruise port to Normandy very relaxing. Along the way, Gilles told us about the history leading up to the Normandy invasion which was so very informative, even as a HS History teacher myself! The other car was able to hear all the info as well due to his communication set up…it was wonderful!!! We stopped at the Point du Hoc first and received his guided tour along the way! After that, he arranged lunch for our group that was super delicious! Next stop was Omaha Beach, then the cemetery, the Mulberry Harbors and the Atlantic Wall, finishing off with the gun emplacements!!!! It was absolutely an amazing day!!!! I can’t tell you how highly I recommend this tour!!!! All 8 people in our group agreed that this was their favorite tour on our 2 week British Isle cruise!!!

Gilles is amazing. What a great person! Our train trip to Caen had an unexpected incident on the track which caused us to have to go back to LeHavre. He drove there and picked us up. He brought croissant for the whole family. He had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed the day with us. Very accommodating, very friendly. I would not tour with anyone else after this! Trusted with my whole family including a 10 year old and he did not disappoint! Cannot say enough nice things about the tour and how informative and fun it was. I got to go inside a German Gun emplacement and stand on the actual beach where it happened and look toward the shore. Bucket list items get checked off here. Life changing! Merci Gilles!
