Sobald Sie sich mit Ihrem Reiseleiter am Hafen von Kusadasi treffen, nehmen Sie den Minivan, der vor dem Hafen auf Sie wartet, und machen sich eine halbe Stunde auf den Weg nach Ephesus.
In Ephesus angekommen, erkunden wir diese gut erhaltene antike Stadt. Es war eine Stadt im antiken Griechenland an der Küste von Ionia, 3 Kilometer südwestlich des heutigen Selçuk in der Provinz İzmir, Türkei. Es wurde im 10. Jahrhundert v. Chr. an der Stelle der ehemaligen Hauptstadt Arzawan von attischen und ionischen griechischen Kolonisten erbaut. Während der klassischen griechischen Ära war es eine von zwölf Städten, die Mitglieder des Ionischen Bundes waren. Die Stadt kam 129 v. Chr. unter die Kontrolle der römischen Republik.

Es ist vielleicht die perfekte Synthese aus einem traditionellen türkischen Dorf und einem traditionellen griechischen Dorf. Tatsächlich hieß die Stadt, deren Name auf Türkisch eigentlich „süß“ bedeutet, früher „Çirkince“, was „hässlich“ bedeutet. Dies war eine ironische Auseinandersetzung mit der Schönheit des Dorfes und diente auch der Abwehr anderer. Als die Leute erkannten, wie spektakulär die Lage und Architektur des Dorfes wirklich waren, änderten sie den Namen 1926 in Şirince.

Ephesus is a spectacular, special place and well worth visiting, even if you've been to other ancient cities. The Amphitheatre is overwhelming with its size and presence, and the library gives you a sense of the learned society who lived there. Worth the visit, especially with a knowledgeable guide like the one we had.

We were welcomed at the exit of the port where our cruise ship docked on time by a very friendly guide. We took this tour with our family (children 6 & 4). As we were a small group and booked early we were able to avoid the crowds at Ephesus. This tour was the best choice for our family!

We loved the trip. It was a quick easy pickup from the port and the ride was luxurious and comfortable. The ruins of Ephesus were awe inspiring and really showed us how advanced the city was.
