Treffen Sie Ihren lizenzierten Fortgeschrittener am historischen Großen Onofrio-Brunnen von Dubrovnik – Einführung in die Republik Ragusa und die strategische Bedeutung der Stadtmauern.
Beginnen Sie Ihren Spaziergang direkt vom Zugang zur Altstadtmauer in der Nähe des Brunnens. Überblick über das Befestigungssystem und die Baugeschichte.
Die Festung Minčeta dominiert den höchsten nordwestlichen Teil der Stadt. Es handelt sich um einen großen runden Turm mit einer massiven Zinne, die an Steinstützen aufgehängt ist. Der erste, kleinere, viereckige Turm wurde 1319 von Nikifor Ranjina erbaut.
Die Bokar-Festung galt als zentraler Verteidigungspunkt des westlichen Meeres und als Landzugang zur Stadt. Die Festung wurde vom Florentiner Architekten Michelozzo di Bartolomeo Michelozzi als halbkreisförmiges zweistöckiges Gebäude entworfen.
Die Festung des Hl. Johannes (Sveti Ivan) ist eine der beeindruckenden mittelalterlichen Verteidigungsanlagen dieser Stadt. Die Türme stammen aus dem 14. Jahrhundert und das Hauptgebäude stammt aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Die St.-Johannes-Festung, oft auch Mulo-Turm genannt, ist eine weitere wichtige Festung im Verteidigungskomplex der Stadtmauern von Dubrovnik.

Guide never showed up. After waiting 15-20 min at the meeting place, I messaged Viator who said they couldn’t get a replacement for another hour, which didn’t work with our itinerary. They apologized and refunded me, but definitely a disappointment and we didn’t get the experience we were hoping for. The walking of the walls offers beautiful views though!

The tour is exclusively on top of the city walls which gives a unique perspective of the old city, the sea and everything below. Our excellent guide provided not only a thorough history of Dubrovnik and it’s famous fortress, but also what life was like then, the many invaders and wars leading up to the fall of communism and the beginning of the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. We also learned much about contemporary life in Dubrovnik and Croatia as well. All this while walking up and down the 1,080 steps of the Walls Tour. Our guide and the experience were great. Our party of 3 highly recommend!
