10:00 Uhr Die Gäste werden vom Guide vom Hotel abgeholt und fahren zum Bahnhof Churchgate, wo sie die Dabbawalas sehen werden, die den Dabbas (Tiffins) in einem hölzernen Wagen vom Zug aussteigen lassen. 10:30 Uhr An der Churchgate Station wird der Gast sehen, wie sich die Leute am Ticketschalter Q befinden und ihre Tickets zum Büro bringen. Nun werden die Gäste in Richtung Bahnsteig begleitet, um den Lokalzug zur Mahalaxmi Station zu besteigen. Nahverkehrszüge sind die wichtigsten Transportmittel in Mumbai. . Diese Tour gibt Ihnen die Möglichkeit, den Mumbai Local Train zu erkunden. Wir reisen im First Class Compartment und werden von Süd nach Nord Mumbai reisen, wenn es keine Menschenmassen gibt.
11:00 Uhr Gäste kommen am Mahalaxmi-Bahnhof an, der von der Mumbai Suburban Railways bedient wird. Die Station befindet sich neben den städtischen Dhobi-Ghats in Mahalakshmi im Vorort Mumbai. Die Tiffins werden auf die Holzkiste gestellt, die 150 Tiffins trägt, und von 3- 4 Dabbawalas in verschiedene Richtungen zur Lieferung mit dem Fahrrad gefahren. 12: 00-12: 30 Uhr Die Gäste werden von der Mahalaxmi-Station aus begleitet. Die Gäste begeben sich in die als DHOBI GHAT bekannte Open Air-Wäscherei. Das Dhobi ist ein traditionelles Wäschewerkzeug, ein einzigartiges Merkmal von Mumbai, das Ihre schmutzige Wäsche einsammelt, sie wäscht und sie ordentlich an Ihre Haustür zurückdrückt. Unser lokaler Slumführer führt Sie durch den kommerziell genutzten Bereich des Slums, in dem viele kleine Cottage-Einheiten/Recycling-Einheiten betrieben werden. Vor allem das Recycling von Schrott/Industrieabfällen ist ein großes Geschäft in Dharavi und die Einheimischen sammeln Materialien aus der ganzen Stadt. Weggeworfene Materialien werden in kleine Werkstätten gebracht, wo sie gereinigt, verarbeitet und recycelt werden, zum Beispiel von alten Aluminiumdosen bis hin zu Plastikstühlen.

This comprehensive tour took us to three places. First, the huge open air laundry which turns over a massive amount of cleaning each day. Secondly, the living area (workplace and residential quarters) of a “slum” area and, finally, the place where home-cooked meals are delivered to workers in the city in lunch boxes. Each experience left us amazed at what was being achieved and we felt we gained a better understanding of these aspects of life in Mumbai. The tour was enhanced by the knowledge and interest of our guide and the fact that we got around using local trains and buses. Highly recommend this tour.
