Diese einst exzellente Hauptstadt, 80 km von Ayutthaya entfernt, wurde 1767 von der aus Burma stammenden Macht niedergedrückt und ist derzeit ein UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Eine große Anzahl von Palästen, Tempeln und Chedis steht noch. Im Jahr 1782 wurde Ayutthaya zur Hauptstadt von Thailand. Die Hauptsehenswürdigkeiten verschmelzen mit den riesigen Bronzestatuen von Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, außerdem mit dem Wat Phra Sri Sanphet und dem Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon.
Es ist ein großes Buddha-Bild aus Bronze oder Phra Mongkhon Bophit ist mit 9,5 Metern über den Schoß und einer Höhe von 12,5 Metern eines der größten Buddha-Bilder aus Bronze. Das Buddha-Bild befindet sich in der Position von Subduing Mara. Während des zweiten Falls von Ayutthaya wurden das Gebäude und das Image durch einen Brand schwer zerstört. Das heutige Vihara- und Buddha-Bild wurde in der Regierungszeit von König Rama V rekonstruiert und renoviert. Das offene Gebiet östlich des Vihara war früher Sanam Luang, wo königliche Einäschungszeremonien stattfanden.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon ist einer der wichtigsten Tempel in Ayutthaya und hat eine lange und illustre Geschichte. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen antiken Stätten in Ayutthaya ist dies immer noch ein aktiver Tempel, in dem Mönche wohnen. Das Wat Phra Sri Sanphet befindet sich auf der Stadtinsel im Park des Weltkulturerbes von Ayutthaya im Stadtteil Pratu Chai Sub. Es wurde seit dem 5. März 1935 von der Abteilung für Bildende Kunst als nationales Kulturdenkmal registriert. Dieses Kloster war der wichtigste Tempel von Ayutthaya und liegt auf dem Gelände des Grand Palace. Es diente als Modell für den Tempel des Smaragd-Buddha in Bangkok.
Wat Lokaya Sutha, der "Tempel der Erde", befindet sich nahe der Nordwestspitze der historischen Insel in der Nähe des alten Königspalastes und des Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Das Highlight des Klosters ist das 42 Meter lange, liegende Buddha-Bild, das normalerweise in ein orangefarbenes Tuch gehüllt ist. Abgesehen von dem zentralen Prang, der sich in einem recht guten Zustand befindet, ist heute nicht mehr viel als die Basis der Hauptgebäude erhalten.
Wat Mahathat (Tempel der großen Relikte) befindet sich fast mitten im Zentrum von Ayutthaya. Wat Mahathat war nicht nur das symbolische Zentrum, in dem die Relikte des Buddha aufbewahrt wurden, sondern auch der Wohnsitz des Obersten Patriarchen oder Anführers der thailändischen buddhistischen Mönche. Es wird vermutet, dass der Tempel im 14. Jahrhundert n. Chr. (Frühe Ayutthaya-Zeit) errichtet wurde.
Der Bang Pa-in Palace ist ein alter Palast aus der Zeit von Ayutthaya. Dieser Palast wurde von König Prasart Thong gebaut und dann von König Mongkut wieder aufgebaut, nachdem er lange Zeit aufgegeben wurde. Der Palast ist in zwei Zonen unterteilt, eine ist die innere Zone, die für die königliche Familie als Ruheort genutzt wird. Die andere Zone ist die äußere Zone, die für normale Menschen und Touristen geöffnet ist. Nach einem angenehmen Tag kommen Sie um 17:00 Uhr in Bangkok an.

The overall experience was great. The historical knowledge was great, and his camera work for photos, and framing were fantastic. His conversational english wasn't the best, so when asking random questions, not pertaining to the area or specific history, he had a tough time holding a conversation. Overall, great experience. They even went out of their way, on the way back to bangkok, to drive by a specific building (the elephant building) that I wanted a picture of.
Absolutely amazing experience... A friend highly recommended Viator and Trip Advisor. While in Bangkok, my daughter wanted a day with friends and no parents. I was like - fine - I can sit in the hotel by myself or get out there. So glad I choose this option. Guide was early to the hotel. Driver was on time. Seeing a UNESCO heritage site with a guided tour one on one was so worth every cent. My guide was fantastic - since I was solo, she took a time off pictures of me (better than a selfie) and had them sent to me before we got back to my hotel ) She explained things well, spoke English very well. Was Just an overall great experience. I will definitely book with them again. The restaurant she chose for dinner has great Thai food options.

The tour was an easy tour to participate in. The only factor to be aware of is that there is a fair amount of walking as part of the tour in order to access the historical sites and grasp the architectural beauty and the situational impact of all those ancient facilities. The other factor perhaps is it’s hot in Thailand and good share of the year. I was fortunate that during my tour we did not encounter rain storms. I had a great tour and I have been waiting a good number of years to get to Bangkok to do these things. My tour guide was a lady by the name of. Benjamat, and she was a class act from all perspectives. She was very insightful and articulate with the historical background of the old facilities that we were walking through and insights into the battles and the key people of those days that made things happen. She kept things moving, but had a pace that was just right for my stage of life. She was very attentive to the heat the need for refreshment and selected a delightful place for lunch at served wonderful traditional Thai food. She made the day very enjoyable and very enlightening. She has stimulated me to do homework and now that I’m back home and dig into some of the historical events that took place around the old capital. I would highly recommend a tour and specifically I would highly recommend seeking out.Benjamat as your tour guide you will not be disappointed.
