Great excursion! The boat tour along the algarve coast was a unique experience. Also, we had hotel pickup and dropoff with Rui and he was a wonderful guide
We had a great time. The Bengali Caves and Algarve region is truly beautiful. Our driver was very amenable to whatever we were inclined to do. We really didn’t know much about the area or what we could see so it would have been helpful to have clearly laid out options in advance mapping out what ways we could have spent the day. It was a wonderful time. He’s very kind but more reserved, not a typical gregarious tour guide.
Colin, thank you for taking the time to write this — I'm glad the Algarve day left you with good memories. That coastline and the Benagil caves have a way of doing that. On the options for the day: they are actually laid out in real detail beforehand, in the itinerary you'd have received ahead of the tour, and I'm sure our team went through them with you again on the day itself. I do take the point that a region you don't know yet can still feel like a lot to take in on the spot, so it's a fair thing to flag. As for the pace — sometimes we hold back a little on purpose, reading how a guest prefers to spend the day rather than filling it with constant chatter. If it came across as reserved, that was likely a choice made in the moment, not a lack of warmth. I hope it didn't take anything away from the day itself. The area was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing it. Our tour guide was not interested in talking or explaining anything to us. He spent a lot of time on his phone.

Our tour guide Marta described the points of interest during the 3hr comfortable ride from Lisbon to the boat dock. We also felt very safe with her driving ability. My friend was not sure footed walking the cliffs but Marta assisted in order for her to see the magnificent views from above. During the boat ride along the algarve coastline, we entered several caves including the magnificent Bengali and received details about each of their formations. After a dip in the ocean., Marta arranged a delicious meal at a seaside restaurant for us. This is a great tour and I would recommend you request Marta as your guide if she is available. Viator has never disappointed us.

This was a great experience. It was a very long day trip from Lisbon but our tour guide, Marta, keep it interesting and the time flew by. She gave us a lot of interesting information as we drve through the country side. Marta was very accommodating and changed up some things so we could do everything that we wanted to see. She also had a great recommendation for lunch and took pictures of my wife and I. The cliffs had a fantastic view. Since it was a windy day and we could not go out on the water into the caves. Our guide arranged a trip to the Chapel of Bones in Faro. Would highly recommend this tour and would very highly recommend Marta as the guide.

We experienced a PHENOMENAL private tour of The Algarve from Lisbon on May 20 with our tour guide, Jose. Filipe did a great job driving us, taking pictures, and explaining the history behind many aspects of our trip and Portugal in general. He also added bonuses like showing us stork nests and cork trees. Our family had a great time!

Do not pass this one up—this is the tour you need to book! Our guide and driver, Filipe, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had an intuitive sense of what we needed before we even asked. The day started with a scenic drive around Silves Castle, where we learned all about Portugal’s cork trees, vineyards, and orange groves. Honestly, I learned more about the country on this tour than anywhere else! We then explored the Seven Hanging Valleys trailhead and Doll’s Cave before heading to the highly anticipated boat ride. Filipe picked the perfect excursion for us: a small boat with only nine passengers. This allowed us to navigate much deeper into the caves than the larger vessels, all while feeling completely safe. It was easily the highlight of our vacation. Afterward, Filipe already had a wonderful seaside restaurant booked for us, where we enjoyed a delicious meal overlooking the ocean. To top it off, he made a clever detour to Albufeira to avoid heavy traffic, giving us a chance to explore a beautiful town instead of sitting in a car. We returned to Lisbon tired but incredibly happy. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
