Denkmäler erinnern an den großen Weg von 1836, als die Siedler die Transvaal-Kolonie gründeten. Sie erlebten einige Schlachten wie die Schlacht am Blood River
Paul Krugers Haus in der Nkomo Street Nr. 60, früher bekannt als Church Str. Das Haus mit verzinktem Blechdach und Veranda ist ein Museum mit den alten Originalmöbeln der Familie Kruger. Das Haus liegt direkt gegenüber der Gereformeerde-Kirche, der Kirche, die Oom Paul und seine Frau sonntags besuchten, und er gab ein oder zwei Worte, wenn er gebraucht wurde, obwohl er nie Prediger war. Am Eingang direkt am Varender werden Sie von den beiden Marmorlöwen begrüßt, die der Freund der Krugers, Barney Barnato, gespendet hat.
Das Rathaus mit seinem zum Scheitern verurteilten Glockenturm wurde 1935 eingeweiht. Das Glockenspiel mit 32 zylindrischen Glocken wurde von Sir George Heys, dem ersten Besitzer von Melrose House, gestiftet.
Das Melrose House in der Jacob Mare Street ist das Haus, in dem am 31. Mai 1902 der Vereeniging-Frieden zur Beendigung des Krieges in Südafrika unterzeichnet wurde. George Heys, der Mann vieler Geheimnisse, während des Krieges wurde das Haus von den Briten als kaiserliches Hauptquartier in Südafrika beschlagnahmt und in die Residenz von Lord Roberts, dem Oberbefehlshaber der britischen Streitkräfte, umgewandelt. Der Hauptsitz der südafrikanischen Regierung befindet sich im Meintlies Kop und ist als Union Buildings bekannt. Es wurde von Sir Herbert Baker in der Renaissance mit den klassischen Redewendungen entworfen. Erbaut 1910, fertiggestellt 1913.

Excellent. The guide is essential for knowing what to visit.
A great overview of Pretoria including the major sights. Our guide Ben was informative and has an indepth knowledge of the freezes inside the Voortrekker monument, which was extreamily interesting and educational. Admissions were included to the sites, and there is time to explore the Monument and Ditsong Kruger Museum.
Transport was included. The tour was very private, just us to and the driver. Therefore just by car. We visited 3 places, and the Foretracker Monument was the most interesting a d we got the most information. The other 2 places, we visited mostly alone.
Ben was very good, accommodated our wishes and was very pleasant. We felt safe all the time while visiting the center of Pretoria.

Really excellent trip around Pretoria including Vortrekker monument, Kruger house, downtown Pretoria & finishing wandering around beautiful gardens & viewing the 9m tall bronze Mandela monument . Brilliant educated guide👍

Thank you to Ben! He fetched us from our hotel and drove us on a historic to present day tour of Pretoria. We learned a lot about the area and some about South Africa in general. We had a great tour of the Voortrekker monument and farm grounds, Kruger house museum, and the Union buildings where the giant statue of Mandela is located. Funny story while at the statue: there were a lot of elementary students there that day and as I was climbing back up the steps two young girls said hello. I said hello back and one asked how old I am. I told her I am 70, and she said 'Wow! You're old!' : )) We drove by Church Square, beautiful Palace of Justice building, sadly an unsafe area. We highly recommend this tour, it was well worth our time.

Ben came to collect us at 9am sharp. He was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. We visited the main sites of historical interest and had plenty of time to look around. Ben gave us lots of additional background information as we drove around and at the sites. The only negative was a lack of air conditioning in the car - we opened the windows.

An excellent half day tour. Ben was a great guide, knowledgeable without overload. The Vortrekker Museum was amazing and it is well worth spending the extra time there. We will always think of it at noon on 16th December!
