The bus ride tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The Pompei guide was not very good, he was hard to understand and didn’t have much patience while trying to lead a group of 20 people through a very overcrowded Pompei site.
We had such an amazing time on this tour!! Our guide Chiara was so kind, helpful, and funny - she made the whole day seamless!! The Pompeii tour was great, lunch was delicious, and the hike to the crater was stunning! We highly recommend this experience!
First of all, this wasn’t the tour that I booked. I originally booked a semi private tour for $701. It was canceled on us fairly last minute and I was offered this group tour on a bus with 52 individuals at a discounted price. I asked several times what the price would be and the only answer I got was whatever the difference in price between the two different tours was. It was canceled fairly late and me and my wife really wanted to go so I did elect to go on the group tour. I did receive a refund of $222. So I paid $479 for the tour annd after talking to couples on that tour and the pricing on Viator’s site, I established that I definitely overpaid for this tour by about $129 or more, should of been around $350. Contacted City Wonders (The tour provider) and they said I would need to speak with Viator, Called Viator and they said call City Wonders. So not only did they not give me a discount for the inconvenience, ok fine , but I definitely overpaid for what that tour was. As of now it still has not been resolved.. May be this review will get someone’s attention.

Great tour bus ride was top notch. Might suggest the earpieces should be wiped down before handing to the next person. Mine was greasy and when I handed it back it went straight to the next guy.
A fabulous day with lots of hisory and geography thrown in. Comfortable walking shoes are a must as is being ok walking on uneven surfaces. Take lots of water or be prepared to buy some.
Overall a decent trip and worth a visit. There was a bit of faffing around in some parts and not very clear communication, more so when we arrived to Naples. I do think times could be managed better to allow for more time in Pompeii as 3 hours is not enough. 2 hours is the guided tour in which, Enrico was very good but spent too much time in some parts within Pompeii. It just means an hour free time to rush lunch or go around Pompeii in your own free time. I would still recommended going as it’s worth seeing but most of the day is spent travelling.
Great experience! Friendly and informative guide. There is a bit of a typo in the explanation for physical requirements. The hike up is at a 45 degree not 14. Still worth it but something to be aware of :)
A well-organized trip to Pompeii.
Our driver, Enrico, and general guide, Chiara, were excellent!! Definitely a long day (about 13 hours) but totally worth it. Started out at Pompeii, with a local guide who was great. It was hot so definitely bring sunglasses and consider hat and sunscreen. Wear comfortable shoes. We then drove up to Naples where there were amazing views and we had pizza. Pizza was good! Then drove further up to the trailhead for mount vesuvius. Very gravelly and dusty so be prepared. We got lucky with cloud coverage for the actual hike but during the time in Pompeii it was sunny, hot and no shade. Bring water for sure as it is not provided except at lunch. Amazing views from the climb! Opportunity to buy souvenirs along the way with cash. After we left there, we stopped at a local limoncello shop for a tasting of different spirits as well as snacks like chocolate and other pastries, and my husband and I bought lots of amazing things for ourselves and our family back home to support an awesome business. Caught a beautiful sunset on the way back on the bus, and bus was comfortable and very well air conditioned with the heat. Portable fan would be a good idea too if it’s hot but definitely comfortable clothes and shoes! Overlap amazing experience and highly recommend.
Surreal experience traveling to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The hike up was more challenging than I had imaged but very much worth it! The restaurant we had lunch had the best view and pizza, and we were provided a bonus stop at the end! Kiara was a fun, informative guide and our driver Romil was top notch! I’d trust him to drive me anywhere after seeing how skilled he was maneuvering the bus around the switchbacks! Grazie!
