Dies ist eine Muskatfabrik, die seit Jahrzehnten in Betrieb ist. Während des Besuchs erkunden wir die Muskatnussplantage, sehen die Muskatnussfrüchte und lernen durch detaillierte Erklärungen ihre verschiedenen Vorteile kennen. Die Fabrik verkauft auch eine Vielzahl von Muskatnuss-Produkten, die den Besuchern die perfekte Gelegenheit bieten, dieses wunderbare Produkt nach Hause zu bringen.
Wir werden ein Frühstück in Balik Pulau genießen, und was wir essen, hängt davon ab, welche Anbieter an diesem Tag geöffnet haben. Aber keine Sorge – es ist alles köstliche Penang Küche. Wir werden den Herstellungsprozess von Belacan (Shrimppaste) beobachten und wie er unter der heißen Sonne getrocknet wird.Shrimppaste ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil vieler malaysischer Delikatessen."
Wir werden die schöne Installationskunst auf dem Paddy-Feld bewundern. Dies ist eines der fünf Containerkunstwerke, die in Penang gefunden wurden. Die Landschaft dort ist sehr Instagrammable – man kann den Blick auf die Hügel in der Umgebung und das Paddy-Feld direkt daneben genießen.
Wenn Sie nach Balik Pulau kommen, können Sie Assam Laksa auf keinen Fall verpassen. "Assam" bedeutet Tamarinde, und dieses Gericht hat einen einzigartigen Geschmack für Penang. Balik Pulau hat die frischen Zutaten, die für diese Delikatesse benötigt werden, und sogar Einheimische machen oft eine besondere Reise hierher, um sie zu genießen. Es wurde auch von CNN als eines der weltweit besten Lebensmittel ausgezeichnet. Nachdem wir die Laksa probiert haben, probieren wir eine weitere Balik Pulau Spezialität – braune Zuckerbrötchen.

The tour guide, Mr Law BY was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We enjoyed having him lead us in the tour as he drove us and explained the sights through the drive from George Town through Batu Ferringhi and to reach the tour destination of Balik Pulau. I thought the attractions of Balik Pulau like the nutmeg and belachan factories and shops offered only limited knowledge of the planting and production processes. Hence, the tour of Balik Pulau would contrast quite a bit from the experiential richness of the tours of Georgetown.

What a fantastic half day tour. One of the best experiences we had and we’ve done quite a number over the years, all over the world. This is in no small part due to our amazing driver/guide, Jenny. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and ever helpful and forthcoming with suggestions and recommendations. She is a Penang local so is a wealth of knowledge but doesn’t try to overwhelm you with every pedantic detail, although if you’d like to know more she’s happy to explain further or provide further background . Her English is excellent. Balik Pulau itself was a hidden gem. Lovely to visit and experience more of the local village life and visit a few sunset industries of the area. All in all, a wonderful, enjoyable, insightful tour that we highly recommend to all!

We had James as our guide and he was exceptional. For reference, we like to go on at least one local tour when visiting a new place. My husband and I spent a week in George Town and on our 6th day we decided to do the countryside tour and are so happy we did. Had we skipped the tour we would have not gotten a full picture of life on Penang island. We saw small fishing villages, ate amazing, delicious local food like Lakso, and ate a flavorful scone (and I usually dislike scones). Our guide, James was flexible and professional, but my favorite attribute was his deadpan humor—example: did you bring your passport? We are now in Venice when viewing small village houses on the river! He’s a real sweetheart, and very fun. You will be in great hands with James as your guide. Don’t skip this tour, it was money well spent.

Jenny took my husband, toddler and I for the tour. She gave us very interesting local insight into the area and was very knowledgeable with the history. We had a delicious breakfast and lunch at local coffee shop and hawker stalls. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend the tour to anyone visiting Penang!

Margaret was a wonderful guide. She showed us so much of rural Penang and told us all about it. She took loads of photos for us, its so nice to have both of us in photos together! She also encouraged us to try local delicacies, food that we would never have eaten without her suggestions. I would highly recommend this trip.

The morning tour started with breakfast at a traditional café, with a choice of kaya toast or scones, followed by a stop where you could buy local nutmeg products. The tour continued with a scenic viewing point by the water, then to a rice paddy with a painted shipping container and also included a visit to a church. Lunch was Penang laksa. The guide, William, was helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, it was an enjoyable way to experience the countryside around Penang.
