This was such a fun class. Lot’s of hands-on participation. Even my daughter was is a baker thought it was great. I would definitely recommend.
We very much enjoyed our macaron making class! We learned a lot about how to make the cookie and the history of it, and our pastry chef was very helpful for those of us who are less talented with baking. :) Our only complaint is that we wish there had been more variety in the macaron filling - we made 3 different fillings but they were all chocolate-based, vs other options like buttermilk. We ended up taking home 30 macarons, so be prepared to eat a lot!
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're delighted you enjoyed learning the art and history of French macarons. Regarding the fillings, we intentionally teach traditional chocolate ganaches, as they are the original classic macaron filling in French pastry. Thank you for your thoughtful review! Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed learning the techniques behind successful French macarons in Paris. Macarons can indeed be delicate, which is why we focus on sharing all the essential tips and professional tricks needed to recreate them confidently at home. Happy baking!
We travel extensively and I research and plan for the best experience. Many of the classes you do not do all the steps and only a few participate and others observe. My wife has been teaching my grandson to cook and bake and they did this class together. They had a lot of fun and plan to have a get together with other cooks in the family to make some together, They left the class with 30 perfect macarons in 3 different flavors. I did a short walk to Sacre Coeur in Montmartre while they were baking.
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We’re really happy to hear that the class stood out compared to others you’ve tried. Our goal is for everyone to be fully hands-on, so it’s great to know that came through. It’s especially nice that your wife and grandson could share the experience and continue baking together afterward. And yes — being so close to Sacré-Cœur makes it easy to enjoy a walk in Montmartre while the baking is underway. We hope to welcome you again 😊
Great class, very intense. I’ve taken classes before and feel this is a more advanced class. Really enjoyed.
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the macaron class. We do share all the professional tips, techniques, and the “why” behind each step, so guests can truly succeed at home. French pastry is very precise, so we take time to cover every detail—while keeping the class fun and relaxed. We hope to bake with you again in Paris!
This was an amazing experience for my daughter and I. Hiba was fantastic and a great teacher. She was very patient with my daughter and really showed how much she loves to bake. I HIGHLY recommend this experience when in Paris.

Maybe my expectations were too high. We attended this class. We were told to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance. If you arrive more than 10 minutes in advance, you are going to panic, because the metal shutters will be down, which cover the window sign, and you'll think you are lost. Then a sign is posted that you will be let in 5 minutes before your class. Then just say arrive 5 minutes early.... The instructor was just sort of snippy. Not rude. But made me feel like she didn't really want to be there half the time. Another participant commented the same as we walked away. The class was also much much shorter than listed. I don't know if we missed something? It ended 45 minutes before the time in the confirmation. The process itself went really fast. The instructor would show a step really quickly, and you better hope you were watching and understood what to do the first time. If you didn't do it right, she just redid it - which is great - because they all turned out ok - but if you were taking the class to really learn how to do it, you might not get that out of the class. The class is set up to have 3 pairs. Each pair picks a color. We picked blue - AFTER we pick it, and she uses it she says "be careful as the blue is really hard to get off if you get it on you." Then just say that up front because I'd have picked a different color..... At the end, the recipe was on some QR code through a drop box. Everyone had issues trying to download it - Why not just print a few copies? Or since you have our email from when we signed up, just email the recipe after the class is over? The macarons were great. You each get to take home 15 of them. But honestly, I was a bit disappointed, and don't understand all the rave reviews. I have attended other cooking classes that were much better and less rushed. This class is good, but not great. Lower your expectations, and you'll have a good time.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We were surprised and a little saddened by some of the points you raised, as they don’t fully reflect our commitment and the experiences of the many guests who enjoy our classes. Nevertheless, we’d like to address each aspect you mentioned to provide clarity for future participants. Arrival time: We ask participants to arrive 10 minutes before the class begins. Occasionally, the chef may indicate entry 5 minutes prior if the previous session finishes late or if the workshop requires thorough cleaning. As we regularly host guests with celiac disease, ensuring a completely safe and spotless environment is essential. We apologize if this caused any confusion or stress. Chef’s attitude: Our chefs leave prestigious pastry houses to share their expertise with guests from around the world. Their focus is always on guiding participants toward successful macarons, which sometimes requires a precise pace. Customer reviews consistently highlight their professionalism, patience, and warmth. We understand that each teaching style may resonate differently, but nothing indicated you were struggling during the session — otherwise, our chef would have been happy to provide extra support. Class duration: With six participants, finishing 45 minutes early is technically impossible, as baking, resting, and piping times cannot be shortened. Our chefs adapt to the group’s abilities, repeating steps as needed. In a well-coordinated and not fully booked class, ending 15–20 minutes early may happen, but not more. Color choice: Participants choose their colors freely. Our guidance on practical considerations, such as potential staining with certain colors, is meant to inform, not direct. We understand your concern and will take it into account. Recipe access: WiFi in our historic Parisian building can be temperamental. We provide QR-coded recipes, but printed copies are always available, and we are happy to e-mail the recipe upon request. Expectations: Baking and cooking are very different disciplines. Baking relies on precision, timing, and technical sequences that may feel unfamiliar if you are used to more flexible cooking classes. We don’t believe it is fair to advise future guests to “lower their expectations.” Our goal is to offer a structured, hands-on, and authentic pâtisserie experience — something our past guests, many with high expectations, have consistently praised. We’re glad to hear your macarons turned out well, and we hope you enjoyed the results. We genuinely value your feedback and remain at your disposal if you would like to discuss anything further or request the recipe via e-mail. Warm regards, Patisserie à la Carte
