Paradise cave was amazing and Dark cave lots of fun. Our guide spoke English well and was funny but always rushing us. Not everyone is fit enough to go up 200 steps without a break. Even in dark cave, I was often left behind and didn’t appreciate that part.
Fabulous trip made even better by our wonderful guides. A couple of things to mention. 1. Paradise cave ( we did in the morning). Mainly steps and boardwalk so trainers or we’ll fitting sandals are best. 2. Dark cave (we did in afternoon) - footwear is strictly barefoot - no exceptions. 3. Swimsuit is permitted as long as it doesn’t have sleeves/legs/skirt. 4. Take your oldest swimsuit- not sure if mine has permanently changed colour! 5. They sell plastic camera covers near to where you get changed - they are in a glass case in front of the desk - wish we had seen these. That’s it. Absolutely highly recommend this trip, great fun thanks to our guides and our fellow cavers.
This tour would’ve been excellent on it’s own but our tour guide Sy made the experience even better. His english is great and he was able to answer questions we had about the country and share detailed stories about his time living here. The two caves we visited were both very different from each other and both very interesting in their own ways. The dark cave was my personal favourite because there were more activities to do, such as zip lines, mud baths and swimming. There is no way to not get wet in this cave, you don’t have to swim but you do walk through water up to your waist. Once again our tour guide Sy sets this tour apart from the other tours. He even took time our of his day after the tour was done to drive us to the train station and help translate with the station workers and help us buy our train tickets and then drive us back to our hotel. The quality of your guide does make a difference on this tour so whether you are old or young this tour will guarantee you have an enjoyable time.
Paradise cave is great and dark cave was awesome. The swimming after was absolutely amazing in clear blue water.
Our tour guide Thang was a funny guy and very informative. He was very on time when picking us up. There's an old couple (70 n 80 yo) on the trip with us and they were taken care of well. Paradise and Dark Caves are definitely worth visiting and all the activities in and outside Dark Cave were fun for a day. My phone is not water proof so can't take any footage in Dark Cave. Nice weather in March.
We had quite a mixed experience with this particular excursion. A Our guide Yuen was absolutely brilliant, she had incredible knowledge and was thoroughly engaging throughout our time en route to and at the Paradise Caves, we can’t fault her in any way. However, the duration of the tour was meant to be 10 hours, and door to door it came to around 7 hours. It seemed that we spent more time in the van than on the tour itself! There was no indication before booking that we would only be doing 1km inside the Paradise Caves. The caves of course are a thing of beauty, but it was a very short experience for us. We then progressed to the Dark Cave which I’d definitely recommend as an experience. The zip line, swim and mud bath are great fun. Our guide there, we did not catch his name, was not particularly engaging and didn’t tell us anything about the cave formation or history. However, upon reflection, we would suggest that you stay in Phong Nha if possible and just take a bike or Grab straight there and book directly rather than going as part of a tour. The lunch before the Dark Cave was quite good, not the best we’ve had but it was certainly plentiful. Overall it was a good experience, but overpriced for what we got particularly in terms of time spent at the caves and as mentioned before, the itinerary was not detailed enough to make sure you are getting exactly what you’re looking for.
5 out of 5. The pick up coordination was easy and convenient. The Tour Guides are absolutely amazing!!! Well worth it!!!
This was an incredible experience, but I would not recommend booking it on here. Any hotel or booking front on the streets of Phong Nha can help you book this same tour for a MUCH cheaper price. Our Homestay concierge/receptionist was shocked to hear what we paid here to book. That being said, the tour is fantastic. Paradise cave was much like any other cave I’ve toured, but be warned that it is a steep trek to the top to enter the cave so not recommended for individuals with knee or ankle problems. Dark cave included ziplining in, swimming (even though it was winter & cold but honestly still worth it), and then cave exploring (including a mud bath and more wading in water). It was a much more unique experience. We got to kayak back to our starting point. The worst part was we were freezing afterward but still worth it!
The itinerary of the trip was perfectly balanced to see as much as possible and spend sufficient amount of time at every płace to fully enjoy it. Paradise cave was breathtaking. The dark cave was the absolute highlight. Our guide was really nice person and was really informative and engaged to keep everyone interested. We are blessed with great company on board with us! Lots of laughter and fun. My kids enjoyed it too!
