Reiseverlauf

Okay, let me start by saying the walking tour was great. Our guide was on time, informative and shared interesting information about the history of Oslo but also life in general in Norway. The only reason I didn’t give this a 5-star review was that we discovered only some of the people had paid for the tour. When we booked on trip advisor it cost close to US$25 per person, but we discovered it was actually a free walking tour and the majority of people in the group hadn’t paid anything. Now of course we would have given a payment at the end as a tip but the fact that the $$ amount was predetermined for some and not others was quite infuriating.
So happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour! Payments vary from booking platform to booking platform and depend on booking platform’s business model and policy. Similarly to how buying airplane tickets or booking a hotel works online. Some platforms collect payment upfront as a ticket and take a percentage commission, while others charge us a fixed fee per person instead (can be in some instances 7-8$), which allows payments on spot. Some platforms go as far as setting the price themselves, or deciding when to run sales, some allow prepaid only, and all of this is perfectly normal in tourism. Either way, what you paid in advance was for the guide's time and expertise. Hope this helps. Have a great rest of your stay in Oslo! We’re happy to have been a part of it and contributed with our stories about Oslo and Norway 😊 Thank you again for nice words! We really pour our hearts into each tour 😊
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Oslo and could answer any questions we asked him about.
Our tour guide Nickola (sp) was fantastic. We learned a lot and appreciated his insight on the amazing city of Oslo. However, when we arrived and he was holding a sign that said "FREE TOUR" we learned that most people did not pay for the tour. It was explained the trip advisor charges for the free tour and then passes along part of what they charge to the tour guide as a tip. It seems pretty scammy and I would have preferred that our guide get to keep all of the tip. We paid over $22 each for 5 of us and another couple paid $16 each. I would have asked for money back but again Nickola was wonderful and well worth it. I just didn't like paying for something upfront with a 24 hour cancellation policy when others joined at zero cost!
Hi! So happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour! Payments vary from booking platform to booking platform and depend on booking platform’s business model and policy. Similarly to how buying airplane tickets works across various booking platforms. Some platforms collect payment upfront as a ticket and take a percentage commission, while others charge us a fixed fee per person instead (can be in some instances 7-8$). Some platforms go as far as setting the price themselves, or deciding when to run sales, others open for option paying on spot, and all of this is perfectly normal in tourism. Either way, what you paid in advance was for the guide's time and expertise. Nicola poured his heart into giving a wonderful morning to the group, as he always does. He really is a star - as you also noticed. We are an independent group of guides (friends) that created tour of great quality with care and love for our city. Doing this makes us genuinely happy and we know it shows in each and every tour we guide. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Oslo!
Great guide interesting knowledgeable friendly. Great overview of the city and Norwegian history, plus personal recommendations.
Amazing! This is so lovely to read! We put so much care into designing a tour that's both comfortable and truly high quality — it's incredibly rewarding to hear it hit the mark!
Nikola was a great tour guide with a lot of info about the city However did feel a bit scammed - we booked via viator(trip advisor) who charged us close to £17 per person but we then realised it is a FREE TOUR SERVICE and we were charged money as “tips” for the tour guide. Nikola was nice an explained that the money provided would provide him with a tip and that we didn’t need to tip him, however the tour page says the price paid does not include gratuities. He explained that they have to pay the website to show up on here so only end up getting part of the payment as tips. He had to explain all this as he stood with a sign that said “FREE OSLO WALKING TOUR” and multiple groups that had booked almost missed the tour as we were under the impression it was a paid tour.
Hello! Your comment is damaging and a misleading lie. Payments vary from booking platform to booking platform and depend on booking platform’s business model and policy. That’s all there is to it. Some platforms collect payment upfront as a ticket and take a percentage commission, while others charge us a fixed fee per person instead (can be in some instances 7-8$). Some platforms go as far as setting the price themselves, or deciding when to run sales, and all of this is perfectly normal in tourism. Similarly to how buying airplane tickets works across various booking platforms. But either way, what you paid in advance was for the guide's time and expertise. Nicola poured his heart into giving a wonderful morning to the group, as he always does. He really is a star - as you also noticed. Thank you for kind words describing him, btw. We are an independent group of guides, friends that created this tour with care and love for our city and for its visitors. Doing this makes us genuinely happy and we know it shows in each and every tour we guide. I hope this reply clears things up, and if you are reading this, we’d appreciate if you were so kind and deleted a very damaging and untrue review for objectively one of the best tours in the city, potentially robbing others of the experience.
Great tour. Guide, Amy, really knew her stuff. Answered questions from the group. Very upbeat. Didn't push, gave time at each stop. Great for the older person. Got lots of good information to fill in rest of trip with some of the places mentioned on tour.
This makes us so happy to read! Thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️ Aimee says hi!
Very well informed guide. Compact itinerary, covering key inner city highlights. Easy walking on the flat.

Jessie was an excellent tour guide. She gave us a good overview of all of Oslo’s significant buildings and places along with explanations as to why they are important. We highly recommend this tour.
This is so nice to read! Thank you so much, Diana. Jessie also enjoyed herself, that was a fun group to guide ☺️
Simple and complete tour with all the necessary explanations and wise advice without overload 🙂 In addition, Nikolas punctuated his visit with funny jokes that made me laugh 😄
