Osaka Sake Tasting & Takoyaki Kocherlebnis

Absolutely loved the cooking experience …looking forward to making takoyaki when we get home…sake tasting was very informative and lots of fun…our instructor was the best …highly recommend this experience 😊

Momo is charming, she speaks English very well and she taught us in an excellent way everything necessary to know about sake, the different types and flavors. We tried 7 of them and saw the difference, while we learned to cook takoyaki and eat them while we drank these Nihonshu. The best workshop and activity of the entire trip, in addition to being the first one and helping us know how to drink and choose for the rest of our stay.

We had a wonderful time! Momo is so knowledgeable, and she is lovely to speak with about sake and food. The class is conducted in English, held in a private space, and it was just our family, which made it feel all the more special. We took the 6:30 PM class due to the sake tasting. We enjoyed learning to make takoyaki and dining on what we made. The ingredients were fresh (she even caught the octopus herself), and we had an opportunity to expand our takoyaki ingredients, adding corn and prawns. Momo was very knowledgeable and taught us much about different types of sakes, including fruit, how to consider dryness and sweetness levels, the difference in unpasteurized/pasteurized sake, and that aged and dessert sakes exist. A light dessert was served at the end, which was absolutely delicious! Our 12 year old son loved the class too, and Momo offered a selection of soft drinks for him to enjoy. It was a special experience for our family, and I would highly recommend it. Thank you, Momo. We wish you the very best!

So worth it!! I learned so much about the sake making process and how to understand labels and what I might like. Helped when choosing sake gifts for friends and their different tastes too. The takoyaki process is very fun, messy (or I am!), but delicious. Momo is so knowledgeable and friendly and she seems to know a little bit about everywhere. I tried takoyaki many times in Australia, and in Japan in Tokyo and Osaka... The takoyaki we made here is still the best I ever had. Something about its freshness, the flavour combos, not too hot, and the perfect crispness outside and spherical shape. Momo's guidance will help you make some premium yaki!

Went on a Tuesday ended up with a private lesson! Learnt so much about Sakè, drank too much Sakè and will be going home to buy a Takoyaki Skillet!

Momo, the hostess was absolutely excellent. A fantastic hands on experience with generous servings of top quality Sake. Momo, as a local Japenese Somellier was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us cook some delicious local foods. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Osaka.
