Auf halbem Weg zwischen Latium und der Toskana finden wir Orvieto, eine kleine Stadt in Umbrien. Während sich der Teil der Stadt an der Oberfläche im Laufe der Zeit verändert hat, ist die ursprüngliche unterirdische Struktur weitgehend erhalten geblieben. Die Führung durch die U-Bahn von Orvieto ist daher das geeignetste Instrument, um mit diesem sehr charakteristischen Merkmal der Stadt in Kontakt zu treten, die überaus reich an Geschichte ist und über sehr bemerkenswerte künstlerische „Juwelen“ verfügt. Schritt für Schritt erzählen uns mysteriöse und faszinierende Echos von der etruskischen Zeit, während Phantome des Mittelalters und der Renaissance aus dem feuchten Schatten erscheinen. Die schöne Kathedralenfassade von Orvieto gehört zu den besten der Welt In Bezug auf die Dekoration und seinen Innenteil, gemalt von Luca Signorelli. Es war Inspirationsquelle selbst für Meister wie Michelangelo. Bevor Michelangelo begann, die Sixtinische Kapelle zu malen, ging er nach Orvieto, um zu bewundern, wie Luca Signorelli Himmel und Hölle in die Kathedrale malte (Eintrittspreise : 7 Euro pro Person).

Orvieto ist eine Stadt und Gemeinde in der Provinz Terni im Südwesten von Umbrien, Italien. Sie befindet sich auf dem flachen Gipfel eines großen Vulkans aus vulkanischem Tuff. Die Stadt erhebt sich dramatisch über den fast senkrechten Gesichtern der Tuffsteinfelsen, die durch Verteidigungsmauern aus dem gleichen Stein namens Tufa vervollständigt werden.
Civita di Bagnoregio wurde vor über 2.500 Jahren von Etruskern gegründet. Die Civita (oder Stadt) war der Geburtsort von Saint Bonaventure, der 1274 starb. Der Standort seines Jugendhauses ist längst vom Rand der Klippe gefallen. Im 16. Jahrhundert begann Civita di Bagnoregio zu sinken und wurde von seinem ehemaligen Vorort Bagnoregio verdunkelt. Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts mussten der Bischof und die Stadtverwaltung wegen eines schweren Erdbebens, das den Niedergang der Altstadt beschleunigte, nach Bagnoregio ziehen. Zu dieser Zeit gehörte das Gebiet zu den Kirchenstaaten. Im 19. Jahrhundert verwandelte sich Civita di Bagnoregio in eine Insel, und das Tempo der Erosion beschleunigte sich, als die Tonschicht unter dem Stein in der Gegend der heutigen Brücke erreicht wurde. Bagnoregio ist eine kleine, aber wohlhabende Stadt, während der ältere Ort auf italienisch als La città che muore ("Die sterbende Stadt") bekannt wurde. Civita di Bagnoregio erlebte erst kürzlich eine touristische Wiederbelebung.

A fantastic trip. The driver was pleasant and professional. He provided great service. The guide was knowledgeable and easy to understand. The locations were amazing. I highly recommend this tour.
The scenery is very beautiful, the whole journey is comfortable and comfortable, the time and itinerary are well coordinated, the driver and tour guide are experienced, and the driving is safe. If you need private space and comfortable travel, this itinerary is definitely a good choice
We did 7 tours with AIM Limo. Hard pressed to choose the best one. Each was a unique opportunity to be immersed in Italian culture. The scenery, food, information on each area was unbelievable. Alessandro and Evano were wonderful to work with. They arrived early each day to get us and never made us feel rushed. They were very knowledgeable about each area we visited. We also used them for our airport transfers. I would highly recommend them for touring around Rome…the Vatican, Colosseum, etc….but you must schedule a day trip with them “off the beaten path”. Their prices are reasonable and the experience extraordinary!
The suggestion to go to unique destinations and venues, that tourists would never even know about was phenomenal. Thank you Allessandro and Ivano! It was heavy rain on the way. There was thunder and it kept raining so much that I thought of going back to Rome, but when I arrived, the rain was flip-flopping and clouds were hanging over Civita, like the whole city was floating. It was like a river on three sides, crossing a single bridge hidden in the clouds all the way. It was a fantastic experience. It was sunny on the way back, and I was able to experience a sunny Civita. It's a wonderful place to be. It will definitely be an impressive day.
We spent the day touring with Alessandro, he escorted us on our tour and made some very good recommendations. Would not hesitate to use their tour service again. If you are concerned about the cost, it's worth it. It's way better than a tour bus, I have had that experience on prior vacations. Pick your tour, pay the cost and relax and enjoy Italy. RJD
It's a lovely tour, a city with beautiful landscapes that suddenly appear when you drive around and you can go around slowly without thinking about the people around you.
This was our fourth visit to Rome, so we were ready for some new adventures. We had an incredible day; Livio was prompt and a pleasure. He had great insights, was personable and fun to get to know, and even taught us a few things about agriculture in the area. We had a wonderful day; I would highly recommend this trip, this company, and this driver.
This was simply the most amazing trip. I really enjoyed seeing Civita di Bagnoregio more than anything else I saw in Italy. Admittedly, I had been to Italy once before and seen the big "must sees", so if you haven't been, maybe Civita is not where you want to start, but as a person who loves the road less traveled, this was TOPS - literally. This little city is situated seemingly at the top of the world. Our driver, Davide, was friendly and knowledgeable. His English was very good and he helped me along with my very poor Italian. He had a broad knowledge of the area philosophies, flora and fauna, history, customs, and food- which we talked about at length while he drove. We were free to roam the sites at both stops, so there was not a tour of Civita or Orvieto per se, but just strolling through these marvels was entertainment enough. Wonderful day trip from Rome!
