One Day Akagera National Park Big Five Safari

Our one-day safari in Akagera National Park was truly unforgettable. The landscapes were stunning, and we had the chance to see a variety of wildlife, making the experience exciting from start to finish. What made this trip exceptional was our guide, Izere Desire. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive, ensuring we had the best possible experience. She shared insightful information about the animals, the park, and its conservation efforts, while also making the trip fun and engaging. Her professionalism and warm personality really stood out and made the entire safari even more special. I would also like to thank Go Further for their excellent service, professional staff, and great time management. Everything was well organized, and the experience ran smoothly from beginning to end. I highly recommend this safari to anyone visiting Rwanda, it’s a perfect way to explore wildlife in a single day.

We traveled to Rwanda during the 2025 holidays and booked our safari with Go Further and we truly could not have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, the booking process was seamless. Xavi, the owner, made everything incredibly easy and stress-free. We had a pre-trip meeting to thoughtfully plan the week’s schedule, which made us feel confident and excited before we even arrived. During the trip, we were accompanied by our wonderful guide, Desiree, and our driver, Kanani. We had such a blast with them! Desiree was incredibly sweet, warm, and exceptionally knowledgeable. She taught us so much about Rwanda’s history and culture, which added so much depth and meaning to the experience beyond just the safari itself. Kanani was fantastic as well, determined to help us make the most of every game drive. Rwanda, Akagera National Park and the Volcanoes National Park completely stole our hearts. The landscapes are beautiful, and thanks to Desiree and Kanani’s persistence, we were able to see all the animals we had hoped for. After a couple of days without luck spotting elephants, they didn’t give up and finally finding them was such a special moment! One of our Rwanda highlights was also visiting the local community center. It was a moment we will never forget. Throughout the entire trip, Xavi and Desiree truly cared about our well-being. We always felt looked after, safe, and genuinely cared for. We absolutely fell in love with Rwanda and are so grateful to Go Further for guiding us through such an unforgettable experience. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

I have just got back from a fantastic, first trip to Rwanda. I was guided by the wonderful Eric Mwizerwa to see the big 4 at Akagera national park - which is a real gem. (The leopard was a bit shy on my trip but we did see Civet and Serval) The accommodations and food were first class and the park is very well managed. Having been on quite a few safaris in the past, I really enjoyed the many and varied lakes and the numbers of different bird species. Eric handed over to Desiree Izere who very ably guided us around Kigali and the Musanze countryside. She was an absolute delight and certainly knows her stuff. I finished off with a visit to the gorillas and then all too quickly headed back to the cold and dark north. I would highly recommend the services of Go Further and Eric and Desiree particularly, to anyone considering a trip to Rwanda. My advice is - go now!

We did the Big 5 Safari Day Trip with Go Further Safaris from Kigali, and it was such an amazing day! Our guide, Eric, was awesome — super passionate and genuinely excited to spot the animals himself. You could really feel his energy every time we saw something, and it made the whole experience so much more fun. He was also really punctual and thoughtful. We had to head back early because of our flight, and he adjusted the schedule perfectly so we could still see most of the animals without feeling rushed. It felt very personalized, and we appreciated that a lot. The Go Further team was great too — they communicated clearly before the trip, checked in with all the details, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, and we managed to see almost all of the Big 5! Overall, such a well-organized and enjoyable safari — and if you get Eric as your guide, you’re in for a really special experience.

Desiree was the incredible guide when my father and I took a day trip to Akagera National Park in April. She was kind, knowledgable, and so much fun to be around - she made our trip unforgettable. We saw tons of animals (including elephants playing in the water while we were on our boat cruise!), and enjoyed the delicious breakfast and lunch that was provided. I highly recommend this tour company - and Desiree as a guide! - to anyone visiting Rwanda.

I had the best day with Go Further and my guide, Cedric, while going on safari day trip in Akagera. Cedric was extremely knowledgeable about the landscapes and wildlife and great at spotting animals big and small while driving the vehicle – impressive! We saw 4 of the Big 5 on one of the hottest days of the year along with many other animals like hippos, baboons, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, and dozens of unique birds. Visiting in the heat of the day, I knew there was a possibility of not seeing much wildlife – but I got really lucky! When we stopped for lunch at a picnic area, I found out that most of the other tourist groups hadn’t seen half of what Cedric and I had. I credit our excellent day of game viewing to Cedric’s extensive knowledge of the park and his willingness to take less popular roads/routes, and his patience to wait for wildlife in the right places. It was a very long day in the car but it was incredibly worth it! I didn’t have the time, but I would recommend making this an overnight experience to break up the driving and spend a more leisurely time in the park for game drives, boat rides, and other activities. A huge thank you to everyone involved in giving me such a memorable time in Rwanda! I can’t recommend Go Further enough

I've been coming to Kigali for years often with new groups of people for business. Every year, I book a tour for the group with Go Further because I've had such wonderful experiences with the team. Desiree, Eric, and Muzamiru are all excellent guides who genuinely want you to have a good time. I've done the gorillas trek once, and multiple safari and city tours with them. They are all very knowledgable, excellent at spotting animals that I would've not been able to see through the bushes, and they make the experience a blast. It's also so nice that they work with our hotel to get us breakfast for the early mornings. Thank you to Xavi as well for helping us book our tours and always instantly responding to any questions. I highly recommend their group and will definitely encourage my friends and colleagues to travel with them in the future so that they will get to enjoy the great experiences I've had as well.

We had a wonderful experience with Go Further Tours and would highly recommend them. We did a 10-day trip to Uganda and Rwanda. We ended up planning our trip with short notice and Xavi and the team did an amazing job securing all the permits, hotels and everything we asked for with a short lead time. From the first call we had with Xavi, he understood exactly what we were looking for and created the perfect itinerary for us. He answered all our questions and shared his expertise as we were planning the trip. We enjoyed all the hotels we stayed at and all the experiences they included in our itinerary. Muzamiru was our guide for the week and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was very accommodating when we had a special request and made sure everything on the itinerary went smoothly that week. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw the Big Five and all the animals we were really interested in seeing at Akagera National Park. He’s a great driver and we always felt safe in the road with him. We were lucky to have him as our guide! We ended our trip with an exceptional tour of Kigali city by Eric. He was very knowledgable and answered all our questions. He took us to a local milk bar, a delicious traditional restaurant for lunch and rearranged the agenda to make sure I visited the Memorial and city highlights before dropping me at the airport. I cannot recommend the Go Further team enough. I was in Rwanda for a full week before embarking on a Gorilla Trek and then Safari with Eric from Go Further. He and the team had every detail of my trip planned and it all exceeded my expectations. Eric is a great guide, very thoughtful, caring and fun. He always made sure I was properly prepped for each day’s activities and it was a nonstop good time. Can’t wait to visit Rwanda again with family and friends, and I definitely plan to enlist the help of Go Further for my future travel there. The country is beautiful, clean, safe and filled with more than I had ever realized.

The trip was amazing. We saw incredible animal and landscape scenes. My guide and driver were great. Desiree, the guide, was a pleasure to talk to about all things Rwanda. The trip is not easy. It’s a long day. But we did see the entire park, driving more than 6 hours south to north. I would definitely recommend it. Only downside is traffic in Kigali on the return is pretty rough. But even then certainly lots to see.
