Das Rote Fort, das von Shah Jahan zwischen 1638 und 1648 erbaut wurde, war die Hauptresidenz der Mogulkaiser. Seine Architektur zeigt eine atemberaubende Mischung aus indo-islamischen und mogulischen Stilen. Eines seiner beeindruckendsten Merkmale ist seine 2 Kilometer lange Mauer, die zur Pracht dieser historischen Festung beiträgt.
Es hält zwei Guinness-Weltrekorde. Es wurde 2005 erbaut und seine antik wirkende Architektur lässt es so aussehen, als ob es schon seit über tausend Jahren existiert. Obwohl es erst vor relativ kurzer Zeit erbaut wurde, ist es einer der größten Hindutempel der Welt.
Das 1931 aus gelbem Sandstein erbaute India Gate War Memorial ist den 13.300 Angehörigen der indischen Armee gewidmet, die im Ersten Weltkrieg ihr Leben verloren. Die Namen dieser tapferen Soldaten sind kunstvoll in die Wände gemeißelt und dienen als feierliche Hommage an ihr Opfer.

Ihr letzter Halt in Delhi ist der Lotustempel, ein im Dezember 1986 eingeweihtes Gotteshaus der Bahá'í. Der für seine charakteristische blumenartige Gestaltung bekannte Tempel ist zu einer der Hauptattraktionen der Stadt geworden.
Humayuns Grab ist ein UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe und Indiens erstes Gartengrab. Erbaut wurde das Grab von Humayuns Frau, Kaiserin Bega Begum, zu seinem Gedenken nach seinem Tod.
Das 1192 aus Ziegeln erbaute Qutb Minar ist das höchste Minarett der Welt. Es befindet sich in Mehrauli und ist ebenfalls Teil des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes.

We had a half-day layover in Delhi, and this was a perfect way to spend our time here. We were met by our driver Sakil and our guide Riyaz at the airport and they took us to see the sites of both Old and New Delhi.
