Beschreibung

Amazing day with Paul!

Incredible tour with our guide Paul! We enjoyed Nuremberg very much and we had a wonderful experience. Paul was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional and we really enjoyed our day with him! He recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch too. We would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.

Unorganized/Cheaply Operated Tour

Trains as a means of transport for this tour was a disaster. The tour guide forewarned us before leaving for the train station that the trains and station would likely be crowded, and that air conditioning on some of the cars was not good. We were also told to use the restrooms on the train, as there would not be time upon arrival at the train station. There were so many people that we literally had to muscle our way onto the train. We were fortunate to get a seat as many people were standing in the aisles. The car we were in was extremely hot and I had sweat running down my face at times - the train ride was 2 hours long.. No way to change cars or even go to the bathroom because of the people standing in the aisles and bathroom areas. We arrived at 1:00 pm and did a short walking tour with the guide. We had a little less than 2 hours of free time to explore in our own, but at this point we needed a bathroom break and lunch, which left no time to explore some the other sights we wanted to see. The return train to Munich was delayed and there were so many people waiting, we felt it unlikely that we would even get a seat. Rather than stand and sweat for a 2 hour return train ride, we left the group and purchased a speed train ticket to get back to Munich. The response of the guide was “that is just how Germany transport works” The tour owner responded to my complaint that my experience was “not the ordinary” and that they had no control over the train schedules , weather, etc. I agree that they don’t have control over either, which is why they should not be using trains for this tour. This tour needs to be a full day due to the distance. An arrival time of 1:00 and departure by 4:45 does not allow near enough time. The guide said they don’t leave on earlier trains because the early trains are even more crowded. It was obvious from the responses and demeanor of the guide, that this was a usual occurrence. Neuremburg is a beautiful city and I hope to have an opportunity to see it properly sometime in the future.

Cheryl, as we mentioned prior this is indeed nothing that is ordinary looking at HOW busy it was. I am not saying that the trains can not be busy during peak season, but what you experienced just was out of the ordinary. We would obviously not offer a tour like this with a train if this would be very common occurance. The tour of course could be done with a private coach too, ramping the costs up a ton, being less eco friendly than a train, and then that coach could also be stuck in a traffic jam for hours if there is an accident ahead on the road. This is very unfortunate, but situations like this unfortunately can happend and we have very little influence on.

Very disappointing Nuremberg Trip

Tour date 13th July 2026. Firstly the only positives of this trip was Paul the tour guide, (exceptional) the 2 girls behind the radius desk at the meeting point (very friendly), plus the rest of our group of 12 who made this trip bearable…. And memorable…. But for all the wrong reasons. Nothing in the description of this Nuremberg trip informs you of the horrendous journey you take by a broken rail infrastructure to get to Nuremberg. What should have taken 1hr and 40 minutes to get there took us over 3 1/2 hours in an overcrowded train, many of us standing cramped in the walkway in over 30 degrees heat with no ventilation. My husband and I are in our sixties and there were no offers of anyone giving up their seats - shame on the family with 2 young girls approx 7&5 who took up 4 seats and even moved the youngest to the window seat and the gentleman (definitely NOT a gentleman) sat on the aisle seat so I couldn’t even lean against the chair for support during this horrendous journey. Absolutely shameful and damn right rude !! After an hour and ten minutes the train broke down so we all had to get off and take another slower train across country with more stops which took another 2 1/4 hours. We did actually get a seat on this one thankfully. Paul was very professional and couldn’t apologise enough and looked after us all, keeping us together in the mad dash to change trains. We left the meeting point in Munich at 10.30am to get the 11.07am train but didn’t reach Nuremberg until 2.45pm. We had no tour except 3 quick stops to see the 2 churches and the museumbrucke with the arched bridges over the water before stopping for lunch at 3.30 pm. Paul did give us some fascinating historical facts and stories of his childhood while rushing around but we never got to see the fountain or the castle or have any free time to wander around this beautiful old town.We had 30 mins to eat before walking to the bus stop to take a bus to the Nazi rally grounds.we didn’t see half of what we should have there also. Paul very kindly decided to extend our departure time by an hour and half or we wouldn’t have seen anything before catching the 5.05pm train back to Munich. As it was we took the slower 6.35pm train back to Augsburg to connect to another to Munich to arrive back at 9.45pm. This tour states in the overview that on your Nuremberg day tour you relax on the comfortable train ride by regional express train. WE CERTAINLY DID NOT!!! Unfortunately reading ALL the reviews we weren’t the only dissatisfied customers of this tour on other days and ours wasn’t an isolated incident. You seriously need to rethink this tour and timings. Why not start a couple hours earlier to ensure your customers get to actually see what they have paid for and get to have some actual time in Nuremberg. ( I understand that this tour did used to start at 8.30am which is ideal ) or use a private tour bus to transport paying customers there. Failing that you should cancel this tour altogether from Munich. This tour fell short of what was advertised and I most certainly hope this meets the requirements for a full refund of £139.72 which I paid on the understanding it would be a pleasurable worthwhile trip and not over 7 hours of uncomfortable train and bus rides. We did do the Dachau trip the day before which was outstanding so it’s just this trip that needs to be revamped. I would not recommend this trip to anyone!

Very sorry about your experience with the train on this tour. You have been issued a full refund. Please be assured, this is not the normal experience of taking this tour. Just like airplanes, cars, ships and every other form of transportation, there are occasionally technical issues with trains. Unfortunately the day you were on the tour was an extreme example. Our guide did his best under the circumstances, but obviously the experience was affected by the train issues. As far as other reviews mentioning train trouble, you are correct in that there are several over the past 15 years of running this tour. On the rare occasions that there are problems, customers tend to write reviews expressing their disappointment.

Traveled to city from...

Traveled to city from Munich, went inside one church. Missed the castle, tour guide said it was due to train being late, we sat in a restaurant for lunch and he walked us around outside of The Natz Dance Party center. Asked us about it and kept going on and on about justifying it.

Antwort des Anbieters

Very sorry you were disappointed in our tour. It is true that the train was about 20 minutes late that day due to construction unfortunately. As far as your description of the tour, it seems you may have not noticed or forgotten some of the places your guide showed you on the tour. The church you refer to is St Lawrence Church, one of the best examples of late gothic architecture in Germany. You were also shown the stone bridges crossing the Pegnitz River that survived the bombings of WWII, the Holy Ghost Hospice, one of the most famous and photographed buildings in the Old Town, the Marketplace, home to the famous Christmas Markets and many other festivals with the Church of Our Lady and the Beautiful Fountain, the Old Town Hall, and the exterior of St Sebald, the oldest church in the city. Then the tour took a break for lunch. Very sorry if you did not find stopping for lunch acceptable. Most people actually enjoy a stop for lunch. As far as the guide “justifying” the former Nazi Rally Grounds, we’ve been running this tour for over 15 years and never gotten that comment before. Sorry if you perhaps misunderstood the information you were presented.

Waste of the day

The train broke down. It was a three hour trip instead of an hour and 40 we missed most of the tour and then it was a 31/2 hour trip home instead of an hour and 40 radius needs to charter bus or some other way to get us there because we didnot get to see Nuremberg as advertised

Good trip, difficult journey to and from

The destination, Nuremberg, is great and the guide is also very good. The process of getting on the train is something to consider. It is a long ride on a crowded train. On the way back, we were told to spread out on the track, and we missed the train because the track changed and we didn’t know. Good trip, difficult process.

Nuremberg Disaster

If you like riding trains for 5 hours plus round trip from Munich, this tour is for you. Hardly any time spent seeing any sights. Our guide was very good at describing the history of Nuremberg, just had no time to see anything. All in all, a total waste of time and money.

Antwort des Anbieters

Lee, we are sorry to hear that this tour was not for you. Yes, Nuremberg is a 2 hour train ride, which we assume you will know when booking a ticket. We are glad to hear that your guide was good, which is why you go on such a tour. Safe travels
