An intriguing and fun way to learn about the recent history of Vilnius and see some less obvious sites of interest. We all enjoyed the experience.
The tour was exciting, educational, and very entertaining. Do not miss it! We come from Berlin and learned a lot about the Soviet era. Our guide provided us with many personal insights into the history of Vilnius, as well as the current situation since the Ukraine war.
Ieva, the tour guide,is a local from Vilnius. She is an amazing story teller, speaks very well English & is highly educated on the historical role of the Soviet Union in Lithuania. I highly recommend taking the tour with Ieva 😊😌 ! On top of that she has got quite a cynical & sarcastic sense of humour. Loved it ! Best,Pia from Austria.
This tour provided a thorough interesting and multifaceted guide through the “new” Vilnius post Soviet occupation. Our wonderful tour guide provided a terrific experience regarding the architecture street:/public art, history and social situations during this time period. It was a pleasant and serious tour well worth your consideration.
Our private group took the Soviet Era tour with Salunas, who was passionate about his topic, very informative, and most generous with his time. He tolerated and handled a vast range of questions as he brought us through the evolution of Vilnius politics, the multiple occupancies by various countries, with a focus of course on Soviet times. The tour is a welcome antidote to the "it wasn't all bad" views that one hears about Soviet occupation and the former Eastern bloc. Salunas was at his best explaining the horrors that took place in the KGB headquarters and the mass deportations to the Gulags. Along the way, we saw some of the forbidding (and less forbidding) architecture of the times. A most interesting few hours, thoroughly recommended.
A fascinating and eye-opening tour. Great insights into Vilnius’ Soviet-era history, with a knowledgeable guide and plenty of interesting stories
Fantastic tour. Lasted the full 2.5 hours and the tour guide was excellent. Knowledgeable and passionate about the topic. Highly recommended.
The tour was really informative, friendly and funny. The guide add to the tour with stories from their own family history
Excellent information and guide. A lot of walking for number of sites visited. 30 minutes return walk after 2.5 hours was tiring for older people like us.
A very enjoyable and informative walk around the city. Our guide, Šarūnas, was knowledgeable about all things Soviet and patiently answered the numerous questions – both on and off topic – from the group. Consequently, we overran the allotted time, which was no problem for Šarūnas, who gladly finished the planned route rather than cutting it short.
