Meri's fashion tour was absolutely fantastic. As a knowledgeable New Yorker and natural storyteller, she kept the whole group engaged from start to finish. The tour was well-paced and struck the perfect balance between rich historical context and fun, pop culture moments. It never felt like a lecture or serious historical talk. What really set it apart were the discussions she wove in along the way, plus the documentary recommendations she shared as resources to explore afterward. I went home and kept researching on my own, which rarely happens. I'll definitely be recommending this to friends and family whenever they're in town!
I loved this fashion tour with Meri! It was the perfect amount of walking and so interesting. The number of people (I think 8?) was the perfect size. She was engaging and a great storyteller. The talk included a lot of historical facts I didn't know, as well as modern 21st-century info, which sparked fun discussions. Meri is a producer and worked in TV, she knows a lot. I will be recommending her tours to my family and friends who come into town!
We had a great time on this tour. Meri was wonderful and knowledgeable, and I learned things that I'm still thinking about three days later. She wove the history of New York City, fashion, and architecture together in a fascinating and engaging way. And it was a bonus to hear about her time on Project Runway!
Meri’s tour was incredibly fun and en vogue—I learned so many interesting facts about the history and houses in fashion. I will look at the Upper East Side in a new way! Her storytelling anticipated where our curiosity went next. The broad scope never felt overwhelming, it was rich in detail and accompanied by helpful images on her iPad; her tour helped me reflect deeply on aspects of fashion I either took for granted or never knew. Whether you live in NYC or are visiting, her tour sets the stage for understanding how New York fought to become the fashion capital and drew upon a multitude of unique characters and opportunities to do it. This tour made me appreciate what fashion designers do—and recognize how they influence beyond the runway. Full of people that inspire and impress, Meri’s chronology connects architecture to neighborhood to world events to pop culture. Highlights include Halston, Vanderbilt, and Cunningham…and new favorites Hawes, Lambert, and Burrows. I came away in awe of the history and motivated to learn more. (Did I also go home and rewatch episodes of Project Runway? Yes, I did.) The tour lends itself to at least two hours and ends in style, also with bathroom facilities and easy access to public transit. Worth every step!
Meri’s fashion tour of the Upper East Side was an absolute delight! She has a deep knowledge of New York’s fashion history, architecture, and the fascinating stories that have shaped this iconic part of the city. The tour was engaging, inspiring, and offered a unique perspective on the elegance, culture, and traditions of the Upper East Side. Meri brought so much enthusiasm, warmth, and personality to the experience. She shared fascinating insights about designers and fashion eras, from the Gilded Age to Halston and everything in between. Her storytelling made the experience feel immersive and memorable, while making everyone feel welcome and included. Highly recommend booking a tour with Meri! It’s a memorable, beautifully curated New York experience!
Such a thoughtful tour encompassing so much time and history. The tour flowed so well, touching broadly on the history of the fashion industry in New York and truly pinning how certain people or events shaped the world of fashion. Was surprised to learn about major designers I’d never heard of. Will definitely recommend to friends!!
This tour was so fascinating! Meri’s depth of knowledge about the city and the fashion industry (plus Project Runway!) was truly impressive, and the tour was fun and engaging. She answered all of our chatty group’s questions and gave us a wide ranging overview of the intertwined histories of fashion and New York.
Amazing and informative tour! Meri is a fantastic tour guide and storyteller. I learned so much I didn’t know about how clothing and history are connected, and as a New Yorker, I couldn’t believe how much she pointed out that I hadn’t noticed on the Upper East Side before. Highly recommend! Fun!
My wife and I took this tour and loved it! She has a background in fashion, and I wasn’t sure I would be interested, but I was fascinated by the stories!! The guide, Meri, is a great storyteller and made it so interesting by connecting fashion to New York history of all kinds, and since I love New York history, this was right up my alley. Thanks again for the great tour, from both of us!
