We enjoyed the Naxos Sunset Walking tour immensely. Leo is an excellent tour guide - very knowledgeable about ancient Greek history, the historic sites in Naxos, as well as current cultural highlights of Naxos, including shopping and cuisine. Leo made the tour very fun for my five daughters (aged 21-31), tailoring parts of the tour to things of interest to their age-group/generation, and allowed sufficient time for all of the pictures that they wanted to take. At several points throughout the tour, Leo took a group pix of our family. A very fun and educational tour that I highly recommend.
Initially, was expecting a brief walk to the lookout point (which is very accessible on its own by the way, if you’re looking for that no need to book a tour). That being said, we got a very detailed tour of the town of Naxos, which was great! Though the tour was enriching, the tour guide made the young female participants very uncomfortable. There were lots of comments made in regard to sexual topics. If you’re a female under the age of 30 wanting to participate without a male companion, I would strongly advise against this tour (or request a female guide).
We really enjoyed the walking tour of the old Town of Naxos. Elizabeth the tour guide was very authentic as she is from a small town on the island. Her passion for the history and culture of the island really came through which amplified our experience. Going at sunset time was beautiful with the light on the castle and temple. We completed the tour with dinner in town.
It was this guide’s first walking tour, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. She lacked historical context and depth of knowledge, which made the tour feel incomplete and less engaging than expected.
We had a private tour w Eva and she was amazing. Well educated and the pace was great (we didn’t get winded walking up and down the hills, but there were hills). Being a private tour she also asked for our input as we already had been to Apollo’s Gate on our own. We are fortunate to be able to select the private tours so if we deviate from the itinerary a little it’s ok. She was amazing and clearly a part of Naxos (she knew the guy at the restaurant who was recommended by our hotel guy…small island, you get it). We would highly recommend Naxos Cultural Tours and Eva specifically. Thank you!
My husband and I joined the Sunset Walking Tour of Naxos’ old town, castle, and portara, and it was truly the best way to experience the heart of the island. The winding labyrinth of alleys and hidden corners would have been impossible to navigate on our own, and our guide made it effortless and fascinating. We learned so many unique stories and tidbits of history that brought the town and castle to life. The tour finishes at the perfect moment — right at the Apollo Gate (Portara) as the sun sets. Watching the sky transform behind such an iconic landmark was magical. From there, it’s just steps away from plenty of amazing spots to enjoy dinner or drinks afterward, making it the perfect evening activity. If you’re visiting Naxos, this walking tour is a must. It’s not just sightseeing — it’s the only way to truly see, understand, and enjoy the old town and castle.
Excellent tour and itinerary; this particular 2 hr session allows you to view and learn about the most important historical landmarks and sites of Naxos. The guide, Lamprina, is professional, very knowledgeable, friendly and fun! She did an amazing job sharing information and detail in English and our 10-yr old kids were excited to hear and learn from her throughout the entire session. Great job!
Guide was fantastic and able to make arrangements to meet me at a later time since stuck on other tour. Informative and passionate about the information. The sunset was beautiful magical and something I’ll never forget.
Lovely walk through Naxos old town with a fun and informative guide! And the sunset at the Portara was spectacular!
Chris was a great and knowledgeable guide. He was so friendly and took excellent photos. Any questions we asked, he knew the answer. This tour is so lovely, highly recommend!
