Der Fortgeschrittener trifft Sie an der Touristeninformation im Erdgeschoss des Terminals 1 oder 2. Nachdem wir von Ihrem Hotel im Zentrum von Tokio abgeholt wurden, nehmen wir einen begrenzten Expresszug zum Bahnhof Sakura und steigen dann in einen lokalen Zug nach Narita um. Genießen Sie eine angenehme 1-stündige Zugfahrt! (Wenn Sie den Flughafen Narita als Abholpunkt wählen, bringt Sie der Fortgeschrittener mit dem lokalen Zug zum Bahnhof Narita. Die Fahrt dauert ca. 10 Minuten.)
Narita ist eine Stadt in der Präfektur Chiba, etwa 70 Kilometer östlich von Tokio. Die Stadt ist berühmt für ihren historischen und ausgedehnten buddhistischen Tempel, den Naritasan Shinshoji Tempel. Nachdem wir aus dem Zug ausgestiegen sind, genießen wir einen angenehmen 15-minütigen Spaziergang zum Tempel. Der schmale Pfad, der dorthin führt, ist von vielen traditionellen Gebäuden im japanischen Stil gesäumt und bietet einen charmanten Blick in das alte Japan.
Der buddhistische Tempel hat eine über 1000-jährige Geschichte und zieht jedes Jahr mehr als 10 Millionen Gläubige aus ganz Japan an. Die Hauptgottheit, die hier verankert ist, ist Fudō Myōō, der angeblich von Kūkai, dem berühmten buddhistischen Mönch, der die Shingon-Sekte in Japan gründete, geschaffen wurde. Das Tempelgelände verfügt über viele schöne Holzstrukturen, reich an traditioneller Architektur. Sie können auch Zeuge des Goma-daki-Rituals werden, einer heiligen Feuerzeremonie, bei der Mönche Holzstöcke als Opfergaben verbrennen, während sie mächtige Sutras chanten und so eine zutiefst spirituelle Atmosphäre schaffen.
Ein weitläufiger Park liegt auf dem Hügel hinter dem Naritasan Shinshoji Tempel. Mit seinen schönen Bächen und Teichen im Wald schafft es eine sehr ruhige und friedliche Atmosphäre.
Nachdem wir den Tempel und den Park erkundet haben, können wir einige lokale Küche in einem Restaurant entlang der Hauptstraße genießen. Insbesondere Unagi (Süßwasseraal) ist eine lokale Spezialität in diesem Gebiet. Der Aal wird gekocht und dann gegrillt, mit einer speziellen süßen Sojasauce glasiert und über gedämpftem Reis serviert – er ist absolut köstlich! (Mittagessen ist optional)
Der Fortgeschrittener begleitet Sie vom Bahnhof Narita zurück zum Flughafen.

Pickup and drop off at the Narita Airport. We used lockers at airport for luggage. Quick trip on metro into Narita. Tour of Buddhist Temple and surrounding gardens. Walkthrough town with ability to purchase souvenirs (high quality shops) and we opted to stop and eat. Eel is a local specialty and did not disappoint. Yuki, our tour guide, was so wonderful. Perfect way to spend a few hours prior to evening takeoff.

Hiromi not only showed me the sites of Narita, she helped me experience them. Through sake tasting, presenting offerings at the Shinto Temple, participating in the Buddhist Ceremony and finding a great place to eat eel all gave me a taste and feel of Japan. Our tour of the temple was truly amazing. Walking the streets of Narita to get to the temple took us back in time and once entering the temple the beauty of the temples and the grounds were inspiring. The buddhist ceremony at the main temple was moving and sharing it with all of the other parishoners and tourists moved us. And beyond all of this, our tour guide, Yoshi, was magnificent. He is down to earth, professional and personable and extremely knowledgeable. He even helped guide me to some shops to pick out gifts for family and friends on the way back to the train station. This tour and having Yoshi as a guide is not to be missed. We would absolutely recommend! We hope to visit again and do another tour with Yoshi.
