Pene is an excellent guide. He is well versed in the history of places that we visited. He is a great communicator. His explanations are easy to follow. It may be due to the fact that he is an educator. He is organized, personable, caring, and charismatic. We thoroughly enjoyed touring Nagasaki with Pene !

Our tour guide Pene was absolutely fun, amazingly knowledgeable and had lots of awesome stories to tell while on his tour. Even though the tour was pretty lengthy 6 to 8 hours, I would have gone stayed longer. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know history of Nagasaki.
Our day in Nagasaki was fantastic, thanks to our wonderful guide, Pene. From the time of booking, through to our pick-up at the port and the end of the tour, Pene was extremely organised. Prior to our arrival, he contacted us with clear directions and even a photo of the pick-up area, and he was there waiting to greet us when we arrived. The day was extremely hot, but Pene did a great job accommodating our group of around 16 people across three different vehicles as we travelled from site Pene was born in New Zealand and has lived in Japan for over 20 years. He speaks both English and Japanese fluently and is incredibly knowledgeable about Nagasaki and its history. He made the tour both interesting and informative, giving us a real insight into this beautiful city and its very sad and significant history. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would highly recommend this tour. If you are visiting Nagasaki, a tour with Pene is an absolute must.

Pene is an amazing guide full of knowledge and charisma. It is an extensive tour so be prepared to learn a lot. Pene explained each site with passion and great understanding of its history. There was never a dull moment in the entire tour by sharing stories and anecdotes. Pene's communication is top notch provding every thing you need to know to have a smooth meeting with him at the port, transportation and a detailed itinerary of the tour. I recommend it 100%.

The tour was well organized and great communication since it was booked. It includes several sites and even though the timing at each site was perfectly coordinated it didn't feel nor it was rushed at all. Great experience exploring Nagasaki. Pene is truly a gem to both the educational and tourism communities of Nagasaki. As a high school teacher, he brings a natural ability to educate, explain, and connect with people, and that gift carried over beautifully into our tour. His knowledge, passion, warmth, and ability to bring Nagasaki’s history to life made the entire day incredibly meaningful and memorable. One of the things we especially appreciated was that this was a small-group tour, which made the experience much more personal. Pene didn’t simply guide us from one attraction to another — he took the time to get to know each of us, learn about our interests, and engage with everyone individually. By the end of the day, it felt less like we had spent the day with a tour guide and more like we had experienced Nagasaki with a knowledgeable local friend. This was far more than simply visiting the major sights. Pene helped us understand the people, events, culture, and historical significance behind each place we visited. He did an outstanding job of connecting everything into a larger story, giving us a much deeper understanding of how Nagasaki developed, its unique relationship with the outside world, and the tremendous role the city has played in history.
