Ein Besuch in Al Khor, 50 Kilometer nördlich der Hauptstadt Doha gelegen. Gilt als eine der größten Städte Katars. Aufgrund der Nähe zu den nördlichen Öl- und Erdgasfeldern Katars und der Industriestadt Ras Laffan ist Al Khor Heimat vieler Angestellter der Ölindustrie.
Stoppen Sie auf der Purple Island, auch bekannt als Jazirat bin Ghanim, etwa eine Autostunde von Doha entfernt. Es ist eine kleine Insel, die durch einen schmalen Pfad mit dem Festland verbunden ist, der an verschiedenen Stellen unterbrochen ist, damit das Wasser in Richtung des Mangrovenwaldes fließen kann.
Der Strand von Al Thakira liegt etwa 35-40 km von Doha entfernt und ist ein idealer Ort zum Schwimmen, Sonnenbaden oder um einen entspannten Tag am Strand zu verbringen. Der Strand bietet einen ruhigen Blick auf Katars größte und älteste dichte Mangrovenreservate.
Al Zubarah ist Katars größtes archäologisches Kulturerbe. Es wurde 2013 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe ernannt und ist das am besten erhaltene Beispiel einer Handels- und Perlenfischerstadt aus dem 18. bis 19. Jahrhundert in der Golfregion. Im Gegensatz zu seinen Zeitgenossen ist es weitgehend intakt und ist nicht unter den riesigen modernen Städten der Region verloren gegangen. Der Standort liegt etwa 100 km nordwestlich von Doha und erstreckt sich über 2,5 km vom Fort Al Zubarah bis zur Küste. Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts gegründet, entwickelte sich die Stadt zur größten und wichtigsten Siedlung des Landes. Ihr Erfolg zog die Aufmerksamkeit anderer Golfmächte auf sich und nach mehreren Angriffen wurde die Stadt 1811 niedergebrannt. In den ersten Jahrzehnten des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde sie aufgegeben. Heute umfasst das Gelände eine Fläche von 60 Hektar mit Überresten von Häusern, Masajid (Moscheen), Madhabis (Dattelpressen), großen, befestigten Gebäuden und einem Markt.

The Tour was very pleasant with the guide driver with whom we made it. He explained everything well and provided us with water and of course, invested us to a typical tea of the country. We visited Purple Island and Al Zubarak Fort. El Tour del Norte.
It was a very nice and pleasant walk with Zoahib, in English, explained many things and adapted the tour to our tastes, we had a great time with him and we could know several spectacular sites

Great chance to get out of Doha and see some of historic Qatar. My guide Zohaib was knowledgeable and friendly! Be aware, the shuttle to the village does not run on Fridays.

My tour guide Zohaid knows the lay of the land and was very helpful in pointing out notable structures, places and their significance. He also knows the history very well. He was able to give insight to the structures and locations; and was also nice and polite. I liked the views of the ruins of the old city - Al Jmeil and I definitely enjoyed reading the history of Al Zubara. The Mangroves were okay too.

The North Qatar 🇶🇦 tour should be included in everyone else’s bucket list! It’s absolutely amazing. You can learn so much about the history of Qatar, how and when it all begin! My Private tour was absolutely incredible. I have been picked up and dropped off via beautiful 4X4 car. My tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging , helpful and with a good sense of humour. He walk with me together with each stop that we made, took a lot of beautiful photos and even when I wanted to take an extra time to explore Al Zubair, he never ever rushed me. This tour is a perfect way to see the country’s important cultural sites and do it comfortably! Our tour guide (driver) Irfan was very easy to talk to, rearranged the tour plan so we could make best use of our limited time to see (before closing) the fort and ancient site of Al Zubarah and come in time for sunset at Mangroves and Purple Island!

It was a very bad experience. First of all. The Purple Island isn't as it's seems in the photos. It doesn't have any water. Then because a reason that I didn't know, we arrive one hour late to the Fort, so we can't get into the facilities as the tour arrive one hour late. More than a tour this is a scam. I need the tour give me back my money. I don't pay just to go around the dessert.
