Wir werden auch durch die umliegenden Gebiete spazieren, wo Sie Mylapore in all seinem überfüllten Chaos sehen können. Die Juweliere, Seidenhändler, Obst- und Gemüseverkäufer sowie die Blumenverkäufer auf den Basaren bilden eine farbenfrohe Kulisse für den Tempel. Der Spaziergang führt uns durch kleine Gassen mit Häusern im alten Stil, durch Seidengeschäfte, Geschäfte, die Musik und religiöse Erinnerungsstücke verkaufen, „Kutcheri“-Auditorien usw. Besuchen Sie den Kapaleeshwara-Tempel und die Santhome-Kirche und spazieren Sie während dieser 3-stündigen Tour durch die Gassen von Mylapore. Die Tour findet größtenteils zu Fuß statt, mit einer kurzen Strecke in einer Autorikscha (lokales Tuk-Tuk), die arrangiert und in der Tour inbegriffen ist, und endet mit südindischen Erfrischungen.

Im Inneren der beeindruckenden neugotischen Basilika werden Sie von ihrer Schönheit fasziniert sein. Der Schrein beherbergt eine kleine Reliquie von Knochen und die Lanze, die den heiligen Thomas im Jahr 52 durchbohrte, was wirklich der Höhepunkt dieser Wanderung in Chennai ist.

Rajesh picked me up at the hotel and took me to the main sites in Mylapore. He patiently answered my questions and helped me understand both the history and the customs of the people living in Chennai. He provided a stop at a local coffee shop where the coffee was top notch, and we even took a tuk-tuk ride to get to one of our sites.

Great tour of Mylapore with a friendly and knowledgeable guide! I would not have understood most of what I was seeing in the temple without him, and the coffee and snacks we got at a local spot were a good chance to talk and for me to ask questions about local life. Great value for the cost!

We booked this tour for our first day in India to find out more about history, culture and religion. Rajesh met us on time and gave us an excellent tour of the Mylapore area. He was very knowledgeable about all of the sights we visited and we learnt a lot from him, especially about Hinduism. He took us to a cafe for delicious coffee and snacks and this was also a great opportunity to chat to him and he was very happy to answer all of our questions. Following the tour Rajesh was also really helpful in organising a driver for us to visit Mahibalipuram and go on to our next stop in Pondicherry at a very reasonable price.
