Wrong Address

Viator prefilled the wrong address into my calendar. We walked 15 minutes in the wrong diction toward Musica a Palazzo Castello 5601, Venice, IT, 30122 THIS IS THE WRONG ADDRESS!!! By the time we corrected, we arrived 10 minutes late and missed the first act. I’m not sure what this address is, maybe the office. But we are hot and late and annoyed. Uhg Check that you are headed to the right address. And Viator please fix this issue.

Fantastic Performance!

Returned to Venice with friends and arranged to view Barber of Seville with them. Blown away by how intimate and fantastic the performance was, staff were incredible and cannot fault the event! Brilliant!

Just go!!

Go. Just go. I’ve never seen an opera but I figured we were in Venice, so. We saw the Barber of Seville and when I say I nearly fell off my chair laughing I am not exaggerating. The story is simple, the plot timeless, but the interpretation was delightful! Set in a beautiful Venetian Palazzo with world class musicians, charming costumes and sets, and astounding vocal and acting performances by the 5 characters this opera was a sitcom told in Italian music. It was magical. The singers were clearly familiar with the music in the best way, and being so close, and at times within the show, the audience were whisked away to a bygone era. You can purchase a program for €5 and it is worth it if you do not speak Italian, but even if you do it has information about the venue and the actors making it worth the price. I can’t describe how much we enjoyed the evening. Do follow the directions emailed to you or you may never find the place. And check your email a few days before the show for a confirmation of attendance or they may give away your seats. Overall amazing, no notes. And they even gave us a glass of prosecco at intermezzo

La Traviata Reimagined

La Traviata Reimagined I arrived with very high expectations. Having attended outstanding opera productions in several countries, including unforgettable performances in Norway, Austria and the Czech Republic, I did not expect an intimate production inside a Venetian palazzo to surpass those experiences. I was delighted to discover that I was wrong. What makes La Traviata at Musica a Palazzo so remarkable is not simply the quality of the music, but the completeness of its artistic vision. The palazzo is not merely a venue; it becomes part of the drama itself. Rather than sitting at a distance from the stage, you are welcomed into an elegant historic home where architecture, atmosphere and music merge into a single experience. Throughout the evening, I often felt less like a spectator than a guest invited into another century. The movement through three different rooms is a brilliant artistic decision. Each act unfolds in a space whose architecture, decoration and lighting subtly reinforce the emotional landscape of the story. The first room radiates the elegance and excitement of Violetta’s world, inviting the audience to become participants in her salon rather than passive observers. The second room deepens the emotional and dramatic intensity of the opera, while the final room, with its restrained atmosphere and delicate lighting, mirrors the quiet fragility of the ending with remarkable sensitivity. The transitions are never gimmicks; they are storytelling through space. Equally memorable was the artistry of the performers. The singers and instrumentalists displayed exceptional technical mastery, but what impressed me even more was the joy they clearly found in performing together. Their smiles, eye contact and subtle interactions revealed genuine artistic trust and friendship. Their chemistry became part of the performance itself, giving the entire evening an authenticity that cannot be rehearsed into existence. Another unexpected pleasure was the audience. During the intervals I spoke with opera lovers from different parts of the world, and despite our different backgrounds we shared the same curiosity, excitement and admiration. Those conversations became part of the experience itself, reminding me that great art naturally creates connections between strangers. Musica a Palazzo offers something that even the grandest traditional opera houses cannot provide. It transforms opera from a performance that you watch into a world that you temporarily inhabit. For me, this was not simply an evening at the opera. It was one of the most original, immersive and unforgettable artistic experiences I have had anywhere, and certainly one of the highlights of my time in Venice.

Great Job!

We had a great time. It was our first Opera and really enjoyed it! We do not recommend you bring small children. There was a child around the age of 5 that was completely restless and ruined the experience for others. We didn’t mind him, but felt terrible for his mom. The other patrons were not very kind to her and it made my husband and I feel so bad.

Wonderfully authentic

This was our second visit in a couple of years. Not normally a fan of opera, but I really like this. I don’t want to give too much away, but it is a truly immersive experience.
