We visited Mount Yasur with Tanna Volcano. We did the afternoon tour allowing us be at the volcano for sunset. The views after sunset are spectacular. We can highly recommend Tanna Volcano Tour. The booking was really easy and William was very reactive. We had an excellent driver - the drive itself (2*2 hours) is already an adventure! Very reliable team.
Thank you Rudi Jakobs. You are most welcome to come again anytime.
Great experience to visit Mt Yasur. My guide William/Charlie was great and offered a home stay for me to pair with the tour which was a good price. This is a long day event, the road conditions were slow going and if you have a tough time in vehicles you might want to reconsider because you will be bouncing around for a few hours as you make your way to the volcano. The volcano itself is amazing, you can hear it heaving and charging up before spewing lava into the air. The guide ensures you hike and stand in safe positions and you stay until it's dark to enjoy the lava glow at night. I suggest bringing an N95 mask because the first 15 minutes of the hike can be a bit smoky with the smell of sulphur (they offer masks at the start point in case you forget but they are the basic masks). Working with William/Charlie was great because he also offered to drive me too and from airport but just understand there is an extra fee for this and most food is an added cost. There is limited cell reception on the island so coordinate your pick up time before you leave for Tanna. Overall this was an excellent experience. Thank you!
Such a rush! Loved every moment. Great 4WD up the hill, then you walk right on the rim of the volcano. So special.
Thank you very much for the revient.
This is a fantastic once in a lifetime experience. The roar of the volcano whilst watching lava swirl, bubble and spit and steam whirl around the volcano is incredible. I am a solo female traveller and have never been made to feel uncomfortable in Vanuatu. Extremely friendly and warm people.
Thank you very much. That review is for our guest on 15 January 2023 whom we have taken her on the afternoon tour to the volcano but not the one who write bad review on our page on 16 January. TripAdvisor or viator, can you please confirm it?? We haven't guest on 16 January. Thanks again.
I had a great time on this tour. I was picked up promptly and the lovely driver shared lots of facts about Tanna on the drive to the volcano. The volcano itself was amazing!! Highly recommended.
Thank you very much.
Awesome experience! Incredible to be standing at the rim of the volcano in activity. Keep in mind you must ascend part of the volcano on foot.
Thanks.
Very worthwhile trip to a wonderful natural spectacle. Recently there is a small museum about volcanism at the starting point of the tour, which is excellently explained by locals. Since it is dark just after 6am, it is recommended to start the tour at 4pm. So you can enjoy the volcano in daylight and in darkness. It is probably the only active volcano that can be experienced after only a 20-minute walk life. Thanks to a recent cliff break, the volcano is even more visible. It is recommended to bring a warm airy jacket because of the wind. Even if admission is not quite cheap (it benefits the locals), it is worth every penny.
Thank you for the comment. I can't read this comment but hope it is a good one. Thanks.
We flew from Port Vila on the 9.30am flight to the 2nd most southern island in Vanuatu’s archipelago Tanna to visit the world’s most accessible active volcano. “Accessible” - well that’s debatable! We travelled from the haven of our picturesque hotel (Evergreen Resort) over terrain resembling something from what I would imagine the moon to look like...desolate, eerie, dark & lifeless. Boulders, smaller craters & fine ash litter the landscape that was once lava, molten and plumes of sulphur escaping from the earth. We were completely in the hands of God’s different kind of beauty; grumbling, banging and exploding from inside the earth to the surface. Having previously been a thrill seeker- bunngy, sky-diving,hot air ballooning, flying in helicopters and ultra small aircraft, this was equally exhilarating... if not more! Standing on the rim my 9 year old learnt quickly about the word and feeling of “adrenaline”. Mount Yasur took our breath away. Evergreen Tours were great for us however maybe not for everyone. We travelled the 1.5 hours in a ute (seats 4 inside) and 3 outside - literally on the back in the ute's tray. My daughter and I loved this however some may not be as keen as we were. It doesn't matter who you travel with to get to the entrance of the volcano site, once you are there the site is run by another company who have 100% ownership and coordination of the land. It is extremely well organised, safety is of their concern and they are very accommodating and helpful.
Thank you very much for the very good comment.
