We (My son and I) had so much fun kayaking on Lake Kawaguchiko on June 5th, even without seeing Mount Fuji. The weather and views were gorgeous, and our guide gave a great tour with lots of interesting facts. Our guide said he'd email us photos from the tour, but we haven't received them and can't contact him directly. Is there a way to have him reach out to us?
I'm really glad to hear you both enjoyed your kayaking tour. Thank you for writing something. I sent the photos on June 5th, so would you mind checking your spam or junk folder first? Sometimes the email ends up there. If you still can't find them, please send us a quick email at naturabase.2022@gmail.com and I'll happily send the photos again. Looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers, Grahame
Grahame was our tour guide for the kayaking trip. He is a very chill guide. He was extremely patient and always willing to answer any question. We had an awesome time and experience. More details for those who may be planning their own trip: Since our trip was in Jun during the rainy season, we waited till we arrived in the country to finalize the kayak tour day. Make sure to give yourself some free days in your schedule so you can adjust for the rainy days. We stayed at the Fuji Lake Hotel and was able to walk the <1 min to NaturaBase for the tour. NaturaBase provides a water bottle, waterproof phone pouch and slippers if you need to get to the kayak area. So if your hotel is further and you need to walk over in sneakers, no worries, you can use their water proof slippers without getting your shoes and socks wet. We have 3 people in our family, so we did a double and a single kayak. The waters are relatively calm. If we had known this and known that Grahame was a super chill tour guide, we would have done 3 singles and would have been comfortable with our 13 year old in her own kayak (we have kayaked many times before). If you are new to kayaking, Grahame did provide some instructions and I imagine would have zero problems lending a hand. Our tour was 90 minutes. Due to our teenage daughter not being able to get up any earlier, we took the 10am tour time. Even in Jun, it was hot out on the water. If you are able, I would recommend the 7am tour time. Our tour finished up at 11:30, we had enough time to find lunch, walk to the main bus station and catch a train to the Fuji Q Highland park for the rest of the afternoon.
It was such a pleasure having you all out on the lake! Your daughter was a natural, the way she got stuck in with the paddle and just went for it. Loved it:) Good shout on the weather front too, June really does love to throw a bit of everything at us. But those mixed days are often the best ones, the light on the water can be incredible once the clouds start to break. Anyway, I hope you all keep having brilliant adventures together. Please come back and see us again sometime. Next time we'll definitely get your daughter into her own kayak, I reckon she's more than ready for it! Really appreciate you taking the time to write something, I know how busy life gets! All the best, Grahame
Our kayaking trip was wonderful and Graham was an amazing guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about Japan and the Mt. Fuji area. He captured amazing photos of us that we will cherish forever. After our kayaking trip we rented bikes from the same location which was convenient and cost efficient.
Thanks so much for that. It was really lovely meeting you both, and I’m so glad you had a good time out on the lake. I’m also happy the photos turned out well. They’re the kind of memories that are nice to look back on years later. Hope the bike ride was good fun too:) Cheers, Grahame
Very nice, the guide, graham what a guy. it’s a bit tiring on the shoulders, but overall very nice if you want something thrilling, yet relaxing. You will get wet so don’t bring your best clothes. Overall length was about 2.5 hours, and was very worth it for the price. There was no crowd, we went solo on a private tour, best sights for mt Fuji in winter, best for private tours in the summer. Good for anyone.
Yeah, the shoulders can definitely feel it a bit afterwards, but I’m glad you enjoyed it. A little bit wet, a little bit tired, but hopefully worth it:) Really nice having you both out there for an extended tour, and I’m glad you got that peaceful but fun Fuji lake feeling. Thanks for taking the time to write something. Cheers, Grahame
We did a kayak ride on the lake - was great fun, with CJ being a great guide. He also took some amazing photos!
Thanks for getting out on the water with me! I had so much fun with y'all and getting to be with Fuji is always the best part of the day! See you next time!
My family and I only had time for kayaking at Lake Kawaguchiko with NaturaBase. We are beginners at kayaking. CJ, our guide, was patient, helpful and fun to talk to! I would definitely consider other outdoor activities with NaturaBase next time I visit. It's so great to have access to these types of services when you want to get as much as you can from outdoor living alongside Fuji-san.
Thank you very much for your kind words! I really love being able to go out on the waters of Kawaguchiko with fun people like you. The outdoors is my favorite, and I'm glad I can share it with travelers like you Come back and see more of Fuji with us anytime!
Had a great time. Grahame is a really good guide and gave us a lot of historical and cultural information about the area and Japan. The nature is beautiful around the lake. I can recommend this tour!
That’s really kind of you, thank you:) It was a pleasure spending time with you out on the lake:) I think it’s always nice when people are interested in the stories behind the area, not just the Fuji view. Thanks again for coming along, and I was very happy to read your words. All the best, Grahame
Great way to enjoy nature. Peaceful, easy paddling, guide very knowledgeable , learn about history of the area. Guide took our pics and made special effort for great backgrounds. It was mainly cloudy but we saw most of Mnt Fuji peak . Must do if you like nature and want calm AM
I’m really happy to read you had a great time. It was a pleasure taking you out on the water, and I’m happy we could get some good photos for you. Even with the clouds around, Fuji-san still gave us a lil' peek of the peak:) Sometimes those moody mornings on the lake can feel really special. Enjoy the rest of your Japan adventure and hopefully see you again someday on Lake Kawaguchiko! Thank you for taking the time to write something:) Cheers, Grahame
Amazing morning kayaking on the lake under the sun. We even paddled all the way to a small island with a shrine only accessible by the shore. Unforgettable experience and great guide!
Couldn't have said it better myself! Kayaking under the sunshine in the morning is so special. Thanks for joining me for the special memories Safe travels and adventures to ya;)
Graham was a super friendly guide who was very informative about Mt Fuji and surrounds. We were so lucky that Mt Fuji showed the summit for just a few minutes in the midst of some rainy weather and Graham was adept at taking some great shots ! Definitely a worthwhile experience.
Thank you! Fuji san really kept us waiting that day, eh! Then right at the perfect moment, she gave us just a tiny peak of the summit through the clouds. Sometimes those short appearances feel even more special:) I’m really glad you enjoyed the time with us. Thank you for being such good company on the lake. Wishing you safe travels and plenty more adventures ahead in Japan. Cheers, Grahame
