Tour # 1 (Morning Tour) ist für Besucher gedacht, die nur einen halben Tag Zeit haben, um die Landeplätze am Omaha Beach zu besuchen. Halbtägige Morgentouren starten vom Place de Quebec, im Zentrum von Bayeux, in der Normandie (von 8.20 Uhr bis 12.30 Uhr) - in der Nähe der Tapisserie. Sie laufen von Anfang März bis Ende Oktober.

Hier werden wir viele WNs (wiederstandnest) von Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes nach Vierville sehen. Wir werden einige dieser Stärken besuchen, die die besser verteidigten deutschen Positionen entlang Omaha waren. Wir werden bei WN 62 und WN 65 in den Sektoren Fox Green und Easy Red der amerikanischen Landung und bei WN 73 in Dog Green in Vierville anhalten. Dieser Strandangriff war eine schwierige Aufgabe, die dem US-amerikanischen V. Korps (General Gerow) übertragen wurde, dessen Streitmacht aus der 1. Infanteriedivision, der 29. Infanteriedivision, den Rangern und mehreren angegliederten Einheiten bestand.
Dieser Friedhof erstreckt sich über 172,5 Morgen und ist einer von vierzehn permanenten amerikanischen Friedhöfen des Zweiten Weltkriegs, die auf ausländischem Boden errichtet wurden. Er enthält die Überreste von 9387 Soldaten und Frauen, die für unsere Freiheit getötet wurden. Der amerikanische Friedhof von Colleville vermittelt ein unvergessliches Gefühl von Ehre, Frieden und Gelassenheit.
Dieses Denkmal, das sich auf einer Klippe 8 Meilen westlich des Friedhofs befindet, wurde von Frankreich zu Ehren von Elementen des 2nd Rangers Battalion unter dem Kommando von LTC James E. RUDDER errichtet, der die 100-Fuß-Klippe erklomm. Der Geheimdienstoffizier von Admiral Hall bemerkte: "Das geht nicht. Drei alte Frauen mit Besen könnten die Ranger davon abhalten, diese Klippe zu erklimmen!" RUDDER antwortete General BRADLEY: "Sir, meine Rangers können den Job für Sie erledigen."

We experienced a wonderful and memorable half day tour of Omaha Beach. Remy, our guide, was exceptional! He was friendly, considerate, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of D-Day in Normandy. I would highly recommend this tour and this tour guide in particular!
It was very well organised and planned visit to Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc. Our guide Thierry was friendly, polite and extremely well aware of the history of the area. I highly recommend this to everyone interested in visiting Omaha.
Wonderful half day tour the guide had great stories and insights and a book of pictures. Just the right amount of time talking and also with time for us to spend a bit of time at the sites wandering on our own. Highly recommend. I forgot guides name but he was from Belgium. Excellent.
Jean was an excellent guide for our half day tour from Bayeux. He provided excellent background on everything from the lead up to the D-Day, the German defenses, the landing at Omaha beach to the American Cemetery and the rangers operation at Pointe du Hoc. He's very witty as well.
Stephen was GREAT! He was prompt, informative, and really helpful with our questions. It was VERY windy and chilly on the beach July 12 morning. Glad we packed windbreakers. I booked direct with operator OVERLORD TOURS. Very helpful and easy to communicate with.
Jean and Stephan did fabulous providing us with a tour of the cemetery, beach, and cliff. Highly recommend this tour, you learn so much and provide time to explore as well. Must do if visiting Normandy.
my family of four did the half morning and we found it, sadly, mediocre. The tour guide talked for 99% of the tour after promising to give us time to view the location ourselves. We got 5 minutes max to walk around, etc. which was discouraging. He gave us the most time at the American Cementry, which was the location least immersive. The bus was nice and had A/C for the hot day, but the rides were longer than the tour. It was too expensive for a mediocre tour.
We are sorry that our tour did not meet your expectations. The sites are quite spread out, sadly there is nothing we can do about that. This half day tour covers 3 major US sites. In the 4 to 4.5 hours of the tour, you only spend 1h30mins in transit (25mins to Omaha beach – 10mins to American Cemetery – 20 mins to Pointe du Hoc – 35mins back to Bayeux) during this time the guide starts the explanations, the other 2.5 to 3 hours are spent at the sites, which gives you around 45mins at each site. When booking a guided tour, people expect to be given all of the facts and stories about the landings and the guide is also there to answer any questions, depending on the group and the questions the explanations can take longer, however you get a lot more than 5mins free time at each site. You get longer at the American Cemetery by popular demand, as this is where the majority of our guests like to take time to reflect.
Lucas and Steven were absolutely amazing guides for our half day tour of D day. Lucas really knows his history and does a great job of engaging everyone through his storytelling abilities. I especially liked the fact that he had images to go along with the events to help you better understand exactly what was going on. They were amazing and I highly recommend this tour,
We had two great tours. The first was a full-day the 101st Airborne tour with our guide Loic. We viewed sites of significance and were educated by Loic, who had a great understanding of the history of the pre-dawn raid. The second tour was a half day tour of Omaha Beach with our guide Thierry. Again, we saw significant site and got a great education. I think Overlordtours is a great company. I would highly recommend them if going to Normandy. Very professional. Easy to work with. We also went to Mt. San Michel with Loic. It's also and amazing site. Finally, the Normandy countryside is still rather rural and is beautiful
We had an excellent experience with Lucas Ducourtioux. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the World War II history. He grew up in the area and had stories from his family’s experiences which made it even more interesting from a personal perspective. Highly recommend! Thanks Lucas
