Morgendlicher Ausflug zum Ätna

Our guide, Danilo, was entertaining and very knowledgeable about volcanism. He filled us in on the history of the volcano and the various eruptions over the past. After being picked up at my hotel, it was about a 60 minute drive to where the hike began. The first activity of the day was a hike of approximately 90 minutes up to an altitude of 2000 meters(6,600 feet). The walk can be challenging as the first half is uphill, and the oxygen content of the air is reduced at the higher elevation. The group stopped frequently so Danilo good show us the various lava flows as well as some of the vegetation that is growing in the area. He has some wonderful pictures and videos that he has taken during active eruption. I am sure he will show them to you. The second activity was to visit a lava tube. Walking was difficult over the volcanic rocks and the ceiling is a little low in some places. A flashlight is provided and it is a nice experience. The third, and final activity of the day, was a stop at an overlook of a valley. Unfortunately, for us, it was pretty cloudy that day, but the clouds parted occasionally, and we could see the view. The tour is held rain or shine so be prepared and wear layers of clothing. It was in the low 50s Fahrenheit the day that I went. On the volcano, the weather conditions kept changing; the wind would pick up and clouds would come and go. I also want to thank Antonio, who was the driver of our SUV, for getting us up and down the mountain safely.

It was an excellent way to see Mount Etna with a very knowledgeable guide named Danilo. Learned a lot about this volcano versus just taking pictures, which we did as well of course!

Magnificent experience! Our guide Elia accompanied us and told us the history of Etna with great professionalism, we visited magnificent places. Excellent organization. Beautiful excursion. I highly recommend it also for the variety of choices of different experiences.

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide Daphne def had a passion for the volcano and the intricate workings of it! We weren’t too sure about the tour at first - but it was amazing - we learned a lot! Our guide showed us videos of the recent lava flow - would be so cool to see it live!

We really enjoyed our Etna trip. Our guide was so amazing (I can’t recall her name) but she was so knowledgeable and thoughtful for everyone on the tour and tasting the local produce was a bonus. I thoroughly recommend doing this tour with this company.

We had an amazing guided tour on Mount Etna with Danilo. Since we were staying outside Catania, the team at Etna Est communicated with us well in advance to set up a convenient alternative pickup location in the city. The tour itself was fantastic, starting with a short hike up the volcano while Danilo shared engaging insights into its history and current activity. After the hike, we had time to use the facilities and grab some food and drinks at the mountain bar. Next, we explored an incredible cave formed by past lava streams. To finish off the experience, Danilo drove us to one of his favorite scenic viewpoints, where he treated us to a glass of delicious Zibibbo wine as a perfect closing gesture before returning us safely to the pickup point.

Exciting and for everyone. You need to wear sports shoes; it is useful to have a jacket or a hoodie for the wind.

It was an amazing trip, definitely worth your money! Our guide told us so much on the road towards etna (in a van with AC), on the etna, in the cave and even the way down. Lots of interesting and fun information, brought in a relaxed vibe. We saw amazing craters, views and differences in vegetation. And again, our guide was amazing.
