It is a unique landscape. The guide explained everything to us in detail. The only thing to improve is that they should clarify that it is not for everyone; one must be in good physical condition as there are steep and uneven stone steps with no place to hold on to. It is very rugged. But it is impressively unique.
¡Muchas gracias por su comentario! Nos alegra saber que disfrutaron del paisaje y la explicación del guía. Agradecemos mucho su observación, la tendremos en cuenta para seguir mejorando nuestra información. ¡Esperamos recibirlos nuevamente pronto!
We had an amazing experience exploring Maras and Moray, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide, Rafael. From the moment we started, they brought the history of the Sacred Valley to life—explaining the fascinating engineering behind Moray and the centuries-old salt harvesting traditions at Maras in such an engaging and easy-to-understand way.
Thank you so much for your kind review!. We’re happy you enjoyed Maras and Moray, and Rafael will be glad to know you appreciated his explanations. We truly value your feedback!
Really interesting comments by the guide
Thank you for your feedback!. We’re glad you found the guide’s comments interesting. We hope you enjoyed the experience overall.
The tour was quite enjoyable, the guide Rafael and the driver Jaime were very friendly, attentive and always answering doubts as they know quite well about the sites that are visited, certainly worth the tour with them...
¡Muchas gracias por su comentario!. Nos alegra saber que disfrutaron el recorrido y que Rafael y Jaime hicieron de su experiencia algo ameno y especial Será un gusto volver a atenderlos en una próxima aventura
Good half-day outing to incredible Peruvian sites Moray and Maras, including driver and guide. For the money’s worth, it’s a good but not a great tour: the information on sites and throughout the drive could have been better, and there were a couple of built-in tour/shopping opportunities I didn’t particularly need or want and where I would have preferred additional time at the sites Moray and Maras themselves.
Thank you very much for sharing your honest feedback. We truly appreciate your comments regarding the information provided and the shopping stops, your observations help us improve our experiences to better match our travelers’ expectations. Thank you again for choosing us!
I did this tour with my mom and we both loved it! Both our guide Jenkins who picked us up at the door of the hotel and driver Eddy were very friendly, Jenkins shared a lot of history, he had a lot of patience waiting for us when we took pictures, the amazing views took my breath away, let us meet families dedicated to the creation of textiles and we could buy many souvenirs without any pressure or rush, I highly recommend it! They won’t regret it 🫶🏻☺️
It was an exceptional excursion, we learned a lot and we knew beautiful landscapes. Thanks to our tour guide Alejandro who made the experience even more beautiful.

We recently took the half-day tour to Maras and Moray with Alpaca Expeditions, guided by Michael Flores. Overall, the experience was interesting and informative. Michael did a great job explaining the historical significance of the sites, particularly the Inca agricultural terraces at Moray and the salt ponds of Maras. His knowledge of the salt harvesting process added depth to the visit, and we appreciated his effort to share cultural insights throughout the day. After touring the salt flats, Michael brought us to a local shop that sold salt products and artisanal chocolates. It was an excellent opportunity to support local vendors and purchase some unique, locally made souvenirs. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by a disappointing visit to a textile store. Based on Michael’s recommendation, we trusted that the products sold there were authentic and made from genuine alpaca fiber. The women at the shop gave a thorough and engaging demonstration of the traditional weaving and dyeing process, which was informative and enjoyable. However, after purchasing a textile item, we later discovered it was made from synthetic fibers, not real alpaca wool as claimed. This felt like a betrayal of trust—not just from the store, but from our guide, who brought us there under the assurance of authenticity. It seemed like a tourist trap, more concerned with profit than cultural integrity. Sadly, this took away from what was otherwise a meaningful experience. Tip to future travelers: Enjoy the beauty and history of Maras and Moray, but be cautious when purchasing textiles, even from shops recommended by guides. Ask specific questions about fiber authenticity and verify them, if possible, before making a purchase.
The below review I originally submitted a few days prior - I gave them a 3 star review. I am updating this to say that Kantu Peru Tours sent me a message today offering to refund my money if I give them a better review. So I am now giving them only 2 stars for trying to buy a better review from me. Original review: This trip description does not say anywhere that the first stop is Chicheros. You get like a 5-10 minute weaving lecture, then they want you to buy stuff from their store. This was not something I was interested in, and would have rather had that extra time in Moray. We got maybe 10 minutes of free time there after the tour, and that Chincheros stop time could have been better used giving us actual time to explore Moray on our own. The time we had on our own was literally just enough time to walk to the bathroom and back to the bus.
Dear Kara, First of all, we sincerely apologize if our previous message caused any misunderstanding. At no point was our intention to buy your opinion or influence your review. Our goal was simply to acknowledge your dissatisfaction and offer a refund as part of our standard customer service policy when a guest expresses that their experience did not meet expectations. We truly regret that this was interpreted differently. At Kantu Peru Tours, guest satisfaction is a top priority, and offering refunds in such cases is part of our commitment to responsible service, not a condition for altering feedback. Regarding your concern about the stop in Chinchero: you are absolutely right that this stop is not currently listed in the itinerary on our TripAdvisor platform. This is because Chinchero is not a fixed inclusion in all of our Maras & Moray tours. However, it is sometimes included as a brief cultural visit to support local artisans who depend on textile sales as a supplementary income, alongside agriculture and livestock. We understand that in your case, the stop extended longer than usual, and we sincerely apologize for that. Your comment helps us identify where we need to improve. We are already working to update our tour listings and make all potential stops more transparent to avoid confusion. We appreciate your honest feedback it is crucial for our growth. We deeply regret the miscommunication and assure you that our years of experience are grounded in ethical tourism practices, community support, and traveler satisfaction. Thank you again for your comments. We will continue striving to provide better service and clearer information, and to foster genuine connections with the local communities we work with. Warm regards, Customer Service Kantu Peru Tours
