Steigen Sie ein in die berühmte Zahnradbahn (Kremallera) hinauf zum Kloster, mit atemberaubendem Blick auf den heiligen Berg. Oben führt Ihr Fortgeschrittener durch das Benediktinerkloster, das im 11. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde und Heimat der verehrten Schwarzen Jungfrau (La Moreneta), der Schutzpatronin Kataloniens, ist. Der Besuch endet mit einer exklusiven Verkostung traditioneller Liköre, die von den Mönchen handgefertigt werden: Ratafía und die berühmten Aromes de Montserrat. Ein historisches katalanisches Schlossweingut mit herrlichem Blick auf die Weinberge erwartet Sie, wo Sie ein traditionelles katalanisches Tapas-Mittagessen mit Dessert genießen. Ihr Fortgeschrittener führt Sie durch die Weinberge und das historische Anwesen, gepaart mit einer Verkostung von drei DO Pla de Bages-Signaturweinen, die sich alle einer nachhaltigen Produktion verschrieben haben.

Montserrat ist ein Bergkloster auf einem ungewöhnlichen Felsberg. Es ist der höchste Punkt der katalanischen Tiefebene. Das Kloster Montserrat beherbergt „la Moreneta“, auch Schwarze Madonna genannt. Der Legende nach fanden die Benediktinermönche die Statue und konnten sie nicht bewegen, um ihr Kloster zu bauen. Deshalb beschlossen sie, sie um die Statue herum zu errichten. Montserrat wurde 1987 zum Nationalpark erklärt. Heute ist es ein Wallfahrtsort für Menschen auf der ganzen Welt. Sobald Sie in Montserrat angekommen sind, genießen Sie eine 45-minütige Kleingruppentour und haben anschließend 2 Stunden Zeit, die Gegend auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Sie können das Museum besuchen, den hausgemachten Likör des Klosters probieren, einen einfachen Spaziergang zum Kreuz des Heiligen Miguel machen, um einen unglaublichen Aussichtspunkt zu genießen, die Seilbahn Sant Joan hinauffahren, wundervolle Fotos machen, lokale Produkte auf dem Bauernmarkt kaufen und vieles mehr.
Der Ursprung des Klosters ist ungewiss, aber es wird angenommen, dass die Jungfrau von Monsterrat (La Moreneta) um 880 gefunden wurde. (Die Führungen um 8:30 Uhr und 13:30 Uhr beinhalten Eintrittskarten für La Moreneta). Der Legende nach bauten die Mönche das Kloster um die Statue herum. Das Kloster besteht bis heute mit über 70 Mönchen. Der Bau der Basilika von Montserrat begann im 16. Jahrhundert und beherbergt heute ein Kunstmuseum. Es ist auch der Ort, an dem La Escolania, einer der ältesten Knabenchöre Europas, bei religiösen Zeremonien auftritt (Sie können ihnen bei der Tour um 9.30 Uhr zuhören).

This was an excellent full-day tour and one of the highlights of our time in Spain. The organisation was smooth, the guide was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging, and the driver made the day comfortable and stress-free. We felt safe throughout and everything ran on time. Montserrat itself was impressive, with incredible scenery, history and culture. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions and fire risk restrictions, some activities were unavailable on the day, including the walk to Saint Michael’s Cross and the Sant Joan Funicular. While that was disappointing, it was outside the control of the tour operator and safety always comes first. The standout for us was the winery visit and lunch. The food and wine were excellent, and the experience was made even better by the guide’s knowledge, storytelling and conversation around the table. It was a relaxed and enjoyable way to experience the region and learn more about local food and wine culture. We were a group of four and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. A well-organised tour that offers a great mix of scenery, history, culture, food and wine. Must do! Highly recommended.

Miro was an incredible tour guide. We traveled with our sons, ages 8 and 11, who peppered him with questions throughout the day. Miro was knowledgeable about not just the Montserrat monastery and wine region, but also niche Spanish and Catalan history.
