Reiseverlauf

Recommend this excursion. Well worth the visit. And then to visit a vineyard with its wine tasting and tapas. Would be nice if there was a "helper" to help the tour guide when dispensing the wine, although she (Montse) managed just fine. The tour guide, Montse, was easy to understand and gave enough "free time" for us to wonder around.
What a wonderful experience. Our tour with Mariana was amazing. She was a fantastic tour guide with so much energy and joy that it made our day even more special. Because I had a mobility issue, she made sure that I was comfortable and kept aware of all the things that we were going to be doing that might make it difficult for me. She always had a way that I could participate without struggling. She was so kind and considerate of all of the tour guest. The tour of Montserrat was absolutely fabulous. Very beautiful and so moving and so very hot. We were warned ahead of time and luckily, we had brought water with us. The view from the train ride up the mountain was breathtaking and a lot of fun. When we arrived at the top Mariana gave us a little history lesson on how the area was created and the story of the Black Madonna. Being able to go into the Basilica and see all of the beautiful stained glass and the Black Madonna was very moving. After some free time we met at the bus and proceeded to the winery. What a gorgeous ride through the mountains, seeing all of the valley below us and the majestic mountains above us. Quite an experience. When we arrived at the winery, we were taken into a very beautiful old building that had so much character it made you feel like you had stepped back in time. We had lots of different types of tapas and tasted three wines, and Mariana gave us the history of each of the wines and how to pair it with which kinds of food. We spent some time exploring the ground after our tasting, and then proceeded back to the bus to enjoy another beautiful ride down the mountain and back to Barcelona. This was probably one of the best tours we have been on and I know Mariana was one of the absolute best tour guides. She really knows her history and facts about the area, which makes it so much more interesting. Her enthusiasm is contagious! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wanted a day full of history, culture, delicious food and wine and a lot of fun. And hopefully if you’re lucky, you’ll get Mariana as your tour guide.
Very worthwhile experience, Anthony was knowledgeable and friendly. Winery lunch and tasting was wonderful.
We loved our experience. Montserrat is stunning. Our guide, Anthony, recommended the hike to St Michaels Cross. It was a bit steep in the heat but totally worth it. Wear comfy shoes. Lunch at the winery was delicious. Anthony was so knowledgeable and entertaining during the tasting. Definitely recommend
Excellent, Excellent tour. The itinerary was perfect. Carla was super-attentive and super knowledgable about the subject matter from start to finish. The three course lunch was truly delicious, and the wine tasting, followed by the barrel tasting in the cellar were both wonderful experiences. The only suggestion for improvement would be to perhaps better manage the timing of the activities associated with the VIP itinerary. The bus transportation is shared amongst several different experiences. The VIP tour provides for some additional activities compared to some of the other tours. Since the transportation is shared, we at times felt rushed to complete an experience and get back to the bus where the others were waiting.
We had a really exceptional day out, the tour was well organised, the guides were excellent, our guide Yerai was very informative but we also had some fun with everyone, I would recommend this trip to anyone..
This trip was well worth the money! The views from the mountain top were breathtaking. The history behind this monastery was well explained by our guide, Etienne. The whole trip from beginning to end was very informative from the guides. We also had about an hour 15 minutes to explore the cathedral, other historic sites on the grounds and we could’ve taken the funicular to the very top of the mountain (20 minutes one way) but decided to enjoy the sites around the cathedral and museum and a sandwich from one the many restaurants. Our guide Etienne was very knowledgable about the site and Spain’s history in general. He answered all questions and added humour in, here and there to keep our interest. The wine tasting and light lunch of local cheeses, bread and meats was very interesting and very filling. I would highly recommend this trip to everyone who is looking for some adventure and education on Spain’s history and Montserrat. The only thing I feel could use some improvement is the instructions on where exactly to meet the bus tour. The address is given for the main Barcelona bus station but it didn’t say to go into the building and find the Tourism office for Castle Experience Wine Tours. We did find it eventually but were unsure at first.
Montse was an amazing tour guide along with her coworkers. We really enjoyed the tour, lunch and winery.
Amazing day, beuatiful scenery, plentiful history. Lesly was amazing, extensive knowledge and bubbly personality.
Yeral did a wonderful job explaining Montserrat and the different types of wines. The only negative was the hot weather.
