My husband and I shared a wonderful afternoon at the Monastery wine tasting experience. We were collected from our hotel in Pesthani by Philip who drove safely to the venue. The setting is beautiful. The monastery had a local wedding also at the time. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed chatting to other guests too. We were given a tour and explanation of the winery. We tasted five wines, one raki and one gin. We purchased the gin to take home. We enjoyed the delicious platter of meats, cheese and bread. We never felt rushed, very relaxing and enjoyable. The monastery has a gorgeous puppy too named Zara, she made our day! We totally recommend the experience, you will not be disappointed!

Beautiful location, fantastic wines, lovely friendly people. A really lovely experience and great value for money. Also, pick up from the town centre was really easy and we got dropped back near where we staying in the old town. Couldn't fault a thing about the tour!

Nestle in the hills just outside Ohrid on the way to Macedonia second biggest town Bitola, Is this hidden Jem wow. Having graduated in Napier university 1991 and taking master degree in wines and spirits, I have travel extensively and visited some world renown winery's in Burgudy, Le Montrachet, Pouligny Montrachet, Chablis and stayed in my favorite Castle Clos Vougeot ,Rhone region Chateau neuf du Pape View Telegraphe but nothing prepared me for a wow effect that I witness at the Monastery Winery in Ohrid. Spoketo the one of the owners Stefan that I would like to visit the winery with 7 other guests that were staying in the wonderful Hotel Vila Mystic. Stefan sugested a package with6 wines 2 schnaps 1 gin and 1 fortified wine (port) with Chacrutiers and for extra £5.00 to have the local fish that only lives in ohrid lake Belvica part of the trout family.OMG that wasn't a nibbles it was a feast for a king.Radovan the somellier welcomed us and served us the first schnapps with Macedonian Salad match made in heaven and took us in the cellars, he was great explaining the origins of the grapes and process of making the wine which is 10.000 bottles a year. After the tour was finished we sat down on the large table over looking to the beautiful green forest and their sunken vegetable plot from where they made this insane Macedonian Salad,(Ohrid tomatoes best in the world cucumber peppers and sublimed feta cheese grated on top) Stefan was preparing the fish which was voted the tastiest fish in the world by our young 14 years old. We were spoiled and looked after as a family 4.5 hours of pleasure with 7 total strangers that have now become dear friends. Filip the Mini Bus driver made sure we were returned safely and comfortably to our Hotel. Remember if you are Vegeterians to inform them .Looking forwards to return again and again.

We chatted to other visitors at the same hotel as us recommended the winery. As we both like walking and wine we wanted to do the hike/ wine tasting. To our disappointment the hiking part was not available due to risk of fire. It was a lovely afternoon. Philip picked us up from the hotel and transported us. The young chaps at the winery explained about the wines and how it was produced. A excellent player of ham and cheese to accompany the wine. We walked to the monestary only across the path. It was a very pleasant afternoon returned to the hotel by Phillip.

A lovely afternoon with a tour of the wine making process with a informative young wine maker.followed by a wine tasting with disciption of the difference wines accompanied by cheese and meat platter .we met two lovely young ladies who we shared a table with who were from south Africa and Norway can highly recommend it

The winery provided transport which picked us (two persons) up from and returned us to our hotel for 20 euros. The driver (Philip) was very friendly with a good command of English. We were joined by a couple of young ladies (Alice and Carla) which enhanced the visit as we had various discussions. We then had a tour around the small facility by Radovan (again excellent English) who explained wine, ratsiki (rakia - brandy) and gin processing. Next was the tastings with a lovely charcuterie board of various meats and cheeses. You can choose different options as to how many wines you taste. After we went to the small monastery which was very scenic but not currantly occupied by monks. The visit was well worth it for the 3-4 hours we spent.

We booked a trip up to see the vineyard, and taste the wines they produce. We were impressed from the second we were picked up. The guides and the driver were incredibly friendly and told us a lot of interesting information! In addition to this, the wines we were able to taste were very good🙂 We were also served a large barrel with lots of good spek food, and cheese. I highly recommend to others to travel here!

We had the most incredible time on this winery excursion, and it completely exceeded our expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views and the fantastic selection of wines, but what truly made the day unforgettable was our host. They were remarkably knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the winemaking process, the history of the vineyards, and the unique characteristics of each blend. It felt less like a standard lecture and more like an engaging, masterclass conversation. Beyond their expertise, our host was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure everyone in our group felt comfortable, answered every single question with genuine enthusiasm, and kept the energy fun and relaxed from start to finish

The quality of the wines is very high and the dedication is truly impressive. It tells a lot about the Macedonians and how they live their days. Fantastic experience.
