Verlieben Sie sich in eine der beeindruckendsten Städte der nördlichen Region. Guimarães ist stolz die Wiege der Nationalität, denn im fernen zwölften Jahrhundert erlangten wir hier die Unabhängigkeit vom Königreich León, da es als Hauptstadt des Kreises Portucalense gegründet wurde. Seitdem hat die Stadt ihre Verteidigungsmauern, Burg, Gemeinde und Arbeiter-/Bauernviertel bis ins 19. Jahrhundert beibehalten. Heute können wir noch seine mittelalterliche Entstehungsgeschichte mit den kleinen Plätzen und engen Gassen bestaunen, sowie die großen Denkmäler und kulturellen Hinterlassenschaften bewundern, die in jeder Ecke der Stadt vorhanden sind. Bei diesem Besuch erkunden wir die gesamte Umgebung innerhalb und außerhalb der Mauern und berühren dabei Sehenswürdigkeiten und Kuriositäten. Wir steigen auch mit dem Auto zum höchsten Punkt in der Umgebung, um den größten Sightseeing-Spot zu haben und einige versteckte Juwelen zu entdecken. Wenn Sie sich für den Sonnenuntergang/Nachtbesuch entscheiden, werden Sie von der Atmosphäre, dem Blitz und dem Blick auf die Stadt geblendet!

We had such a great day seeing Guimaraes and Braga. Both cities were very interesting and beautiful. After coming from a few days in Porto it was nice not having such steep inclines to walk. Ricardo was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, informative and patient as we tend to wonder off a bit. He has a good sense of humor and is very personable. We learned a lot about Portugal and got a good history base to build on.
Anyone who loves visiting Portugal MUST visit Guimaraes to know how Portugal came to be. Our guide Ricardo was very pleasant, wonderful and gave very detailed history of this region and made a very pleasant walking itinerary to see all the highlights. A very beautiful little town and MUST SEE. Here Portugal was born!! ❤️

Bruno picked us up at our Porto hotel on time - and we were off! We picked up 2 others in Braga - 2 others from the US. The tour was awesome - while Bruno’s expertise is the national parks he was well versed on the history of Guimares as well as Braga - another historical city we asked if could be included. It was just a great way to see two important cities in the history of Portugal. Thank you Bruno!

Guimaraes should be on everyone's list of places to visit in Portugal. The birthplace of Portugal 's fortress and palace are Interesting views into Portugal's beginning. The stone outcropping s add drama to the terrain. The visit was a treat.
